  • Works great with Rollei IR & Ilford SFX

This is the "go to," filter for infrared photography. And no doubt about it, the quality of the glass and its ability to transmit the right kind of light is spectacular. The reason I give it 4 instead of 5 stars is because Hoya seems to have a quality control issue concerning the glass mounting within the metal ring. Although I have seen this problem occur with this particular filter, all their filters seem prone to this problem. The problem is that the glass does not seem to be securely mounted within the ring and over time it can simply pop out. I even seen this occur with a brand new filter. If Hoya could and would address this problem their filters would be perfect.

  • It is not your probolem. It is mine.

"Digital SLR Cameras & Photography For Dummies" decribes how neat the Hoya R72 Infrared Filter make. My Camrera is Nikon d90. I can see a red light of remote control and Nikon d90 is enough senstive to infrared light. But, I can not get a white balance with it. So, I can not get a picture like that book. Pictures become Red, Red, Red. The item should be good as an infrared filter, but I need to do something for the eeire color picture.

  • Very Good infrared images

Filter produces very good infrared images that need to be manipulated by photosoftware. A tripod must be used in order to take time exposures (approx. 30 seconds).

  • Great product

Very good built filter, nice images from IR range on Sony Nex 5n + Zeiss Touit 1.8/32 and Zeiss Touit 2.8/50 Makro Planar. Nice package as well. Can be used on other emount lenses with 49mm filter size with an adapter
