Sharp lens. Good bokeh. Well built. Super lens that just works and is a delight to use. About half price of Zeiss FE f1.8 and circa one third cost of G-Master 85mm f1.4 so all in all an excellent alternative and lighter and more compact too. Used on a6500 it offers relatively portable modest range tele that's going to likely better the 70-200 (albeit just in one length) in performance with the potential to make headshots 'pop' from an otherwise busy background. Only limitation is that it's hard to use indoors (can't usually get far enough back) on the aps-c 6000 series bodies in 'normal' sized venues where one really benefits from using a fast lens. But if you are still reading this and seriously considering this lens, then you probably understand that small limitation is more than offset by it's many strengths and know why it's probably for you. A seriously good choice if you just want to carry a very small range of sharp fast primes for a lightweight kit capable of outstanding quality. Esp. if augmented by modest zoom or perhaps fast Sigma dedicated E-mount 16 & 30mm f1.4Read full review

The lens I got had decentred element, which ruined picture quality completely. Outer plastic ring, that holds front glass is sitting on plastic thread, so I will let you draw your own conclusions.

Use this on my A6000 as couldn’t justify getting a 70-200. Have to say very impressed and good value for money if your doing sports/action photography with Sony APS-C. Lens is sharp and has good AF and as it’s pretty compact makes it easy to carry the camera round one handed.

I’ve used this lens on a few occasions for portraits. It’s pin sharp even wide open on subject features, this would obviously be in the central 2/3 of the image as corners are out of focus anyway. I haven't tested corners. Color is also accurate. Auto focus is quick and quite, It doesn’t have a manual focus (by wire) override, this has to be assigned to one of the cameras custom buttons, I use C3 on my A7R3. At about 1/3 of the cost (and 1/2the size !) it’s way better value than the 1.4 and 1.8 is only fractionally smaller. Highly recommended

This lens is amazing, it is sharp at every aperture on my 42MP A7R2. It is light, focuses quite fast, and the build quality is solid. Also one of the few reasonably priced native primes. In my opinion there is absolutely no reason to choose the 85mm 1.4 GM over this, it is 3x the price, heavy, slower, and altough 2/3 stop faster it is just fairly sharp at f/1.4.
