Item was actually unused, still shrink wrapped in original packaging. The whistling spout closure mechanism had come apart, but a quick Google suggested this was not an uncommon occurrence and I found enough information to reassemble without much drama. Seller couldn’t have been aware of this, am just reporting for anyone who happens to buy one of these anywhere else, don’t panic, it’s fairly easy to sort! Kettle arrived in good time, safely packaged. 5* seller.

Plastic water taste
The only problem with this kettle is the plastic water taste that other reviewers have mentioned. I'm starting to get rid of plastic water taste by constantly boiling the kettle but it does seem to be taking a long time to rid the kettle of the plastic water taste.

Tower kettle
I am so disappointed with this kettle. It is cheap, lightweight plastic... looks cheap and feels cheap. I have had it a week and now the lid won't stay shut .. quite dangerous as it pops up whilst I am pouring boiling hot water. Poor quality and dangerous.

Very very poor plastic quality. Lid lifts up on boiling, so boiling doesn't stop. Lid intermittently is able to close, but most of the time cannot close. Plastic cheap rubbish really and I am sending it back. Better to spend double the money for decent equipment. It also could be a death trap with the lid opening and closing all the time which affects the boiling. Useless and not fit for purpose. Works 5 times then you have problems. Tower kettle
Arrived in good order and on time however, after a couple of days it keeps switching off before it has boiled and only occasionally boils fully! Would not have purchased it if i'd have known. Very disappointed!! !

poor design
I found the only good thing was that it did change from blue to red. Although i boiled the kettle out numerous times my drink still tasted aweful. The switch on handle is to high up so that gets in the way of operation.
