I have just purchased a Volvo V40 (2013) with an inbuilt Sat Nav, absolute Rubbish. There is no Comparison between Inbuilt and stand alone. I had my Volvo updated so that I can now input Maps via a USB port, it does take a long time, I guess 4 hours for the Map update is about right, but you know its things like Speed Cameras average speed, Red light cameras, Overspeed alterts etc etc etc which are NOT on my Inbuilt. its also an easy setting to show Kilometres on the Tom Tom display. I do drive quite a lot in Europe. The Tom Tom has a fantastic App for your Smart phone where you can pre arrange a Route which then gets sent to the Tom Tom device via the internet. Its always on and does not cost for Data. I would say its the best option. So many people are hoodwinked by Car Manufacturers, Inbuilt Sat Navs. just are not good enough for my use. I totally recommend this product.Read full review

Well, this sat nav works reasonably well but I do have reservations. When doing a search for an address it doesn't always find the address unless you include the postcode. So if you don't know the postcode how do you find your destination? The other niggle I have is that route preview feature only shows the route in real time - pretty useless unless you want to spend hours looking the sat nav. It would be just as quick to drive it! My old TomTom would show the route preview at a selection of faster speeds which is much more sensible. Also, the warning sounds for things such as speed cameras cannot be changed, which means they all sound the same. Another irritation is that the lane guidance feature is shown in a small separate screen along side the main route. It would have been much better to show lane guidance on the main route which is much clearer.Read full review

Bought this product for my wife's aging original TomTom Go 300. It is clear that the technology has moved on significantly. I think the ease of use and simplicity of the menu structure are great improvements. The real time traffic updates and lifetime updates to speed cameras and maps are nice features. The only comment I have is that the basic on board memory was only large enough for the UK/Europe map. Fortunately there is a slot for a micro SD card to extend this.

Great sat nav with in built sim card. So you get live traffic info when you have registered a free account on the Tom Tom website. If you are having trouble updating the maps, you need to buy a 16GB micro SD card. I bought a new one for 3 quid on ebay. Also map updates will not work unless you change an option in your mydrive computer software. Open Mydrive software on your computer. Click settings. Click downloads. Then check the box which says "Download updates on my computer" Lifetime Map updates will now work..
