SynopsisJon Sable had a life based in paradise. Giving up the safari scene for the steady work of a game warden in Africa, it all abruptly ended in a torrent of flames and bullets when poachers extract their revenge, killing his wife and child, leaving him for dead. But Jon survived, like a wounded animal in search of vengeance.Having been expelled from his beloved Africa for work as just another soulless mercenary in the war-torn revolutionary African nations, Sable finds his way to New York, and a new life as -- of all things -- a bestselling children's book author. Only he discovers that the darkness within still threatens his return to his place in civilized society...and an enemy from the past with an old score to settle is out to kill him. The savage within Sable reemerges...and forces him to return to the Dark Continent., Having been expelled from his beloved Africa for work as just another soul-less mercenary in the war-torn revolutionary African nations, Sable finds his way to New York, and a new life. Only he discovers that the darkness within still threatens his return to his place in civilized society and an enemy from the past with an old score to settle is out to kill him.
Well, to start...I have been Mike Grell fan since DC Special #8 with the Warlord character premiere. Something about the SR71 pilot just grabbed me. Maybe it was that great goatee! Anyway, I loved his art style. So much that I followed him into the Green Arrow series. The Sable series is interesting but not my favorite. I have several signed Warlord issues, and #1 Starslayer. So it was easy to convince myself that I needed a Sable to go with the others.
