I decided to buy this movie because I had seen it when it first came out so long ago. The VHS tape of it that I had bought just recently had started to have problems, so I went the DVD route. This movie features wonderfully hilarious performances by George Segal and Barbara Streisand. The other actors in it are very good also. Probably because Barbara plays a prostitute and because it has some raunchy scenes and some salty language this movie doesn't seem to ever get shown on TV, and if it did it would be heavily edited. A very young Robert Klein is funny in his one or two scenes. There's not much to dislike about this movie, as it is concise and keeps moving along nicely. You keep laughing and chuckling along through the entire farce. The story revolves around two very different kinds of people who go from loathing each other to loving each other in spite of their many differences. This is one of my all-time favorite movies. They don't make movies like this anymore, unfortunately.Read full review
A GREAT BARBRA AND GEORGE SEAGEL MOVIE tHIS IS AS GOOD AS IT GETS FOR A 70'S COMEDY. I GOT IT JUST DAYS BEFORE GEORGE SEAGEL PASSED. HE WAS AS GOOD IN THIS COMEDY AS HE WAS IN 'A TOUCH OF CLASS' WITH GLENDA JACKSON. THE ONLY PROBLEM IS YOU CAN'T FIND FILMS LIKE THIS ANYMORE. TODAY THEIR ALL OVER THE TOP AND TOO RISQUE FOR MY TASTE.

Streisand plays Doris, a loud-mouthed fetish hooker who claims to be a model and an actress. She gets thrown out of her apartment when her neighbor, a nebbish bookstore clerk and aspiring writer named Felix Sherman, reports her clandestine activities to the landlord. This causes a confrontation in which she is convinced he's gay and seduces him in a surprisingly graphic scene (at least surprising for Streisand). Another fight ensues causing them to get kicked out of his apartment. The rest of the film is mostly their bickering as they travel from one apartment to the next and carry out their improbable, Pygmalion-like opposites-attract romance.
Great value.
