Like a fair few other people I decided to give this book a go because I am hooked on the Syfy TV series Haven - Which is loosely based on this Stephen King novel. Having read Stephen King books in the past, this is a completely different style to what I was expecting. It's not really a crime novel so to speak, more like a story which gives you all the facts/clues, and in the end you decide the outcome. It very atmospheric and a great scene is set, plus you quickly get a feel for the characters. It's a rather short book, so you don't really have anything to lose by reading it - I read it over 4 nights!
Good read Book I've been meaning to read for a while

Great, typical Stephen King.

This is one of those Stephen King books that isn't generally available and I've tried to get it unsuccessfully a few times. One time I bought it online and it ended up being in German. Personally, I wanted to read it as a fan of Stephen King's work moreso than based on the TV series Haven which was adapted from the storyline. If you are buying this based on Haven, you may be disappointed. This is basically the story BEFORE the incidents in Haven. (the town isn't even called Haven - it's called Moose-Lookit). Anyway, like just about all of Stephen King's books it is set in a small town in Maine and is character driven. Also be aware that it is not a major novel, in fact it's just slightly longer than a short story. That said, it's a must for his fans and a great read in it's own right.
