Product Information

The team responsible for the original 1997 gridiron hit has redesigned Midway's NFL Blitz to take advantage of next-generation consoles. NFL Blitz 20-02 offers new 3D-modeled players that better represent their real-life counterparts, with different body types instead of the hulking exaggerations found in previous installments. Each of the 31 NFL stadiums has also been rendered with more detail to reflect the authentic venues, and more than 1,500 animations have been added to keep things lively on the field.<br><br>NFL Blitz 20-02 now features eight-on-eight action with more options in play calling. After selecting one of the team-specific plays from a choice of formations, players have the option to use an "Impact Player" function designed to keep opponents on their toes. Each of the six Impact Plays on offense and defense focuses on a specific strategy, such as a sack specialist holding back before rushing a QB, or a star receiver sprinting for a deep pass. An audible can also be called at the line of scrimmage to change the original play.<br><br>The action of NFL Blitz has essentially remained the same. Players can use power tackles on defense to slam ball carriers into the ground, catch "on fire" by performing well, and blast across the field using turbo. The passing game has been refined to the point where players can throw to specific individuals using button icons, and field goal attempts are manually controlled with a power meter instead of automatic as in the original. Modes of play include Season, Exhibition, and Tournament, with records and stats saved to memory card. Music tracks feature rap-metal band Methods of Mayhem.

    nice game, same quality game as expected

    I bought this game because I used to play it back in the day. The graphics are not amazing, but that is to be expected from a Gamecube game from the early 2000s. It is a lot of fun to play with a friend because it is football without any rules. Also, some of the athleticism in NFL Blitz is insane. My buddies and I have some great memories and laughs from playing this game.

    Better than Madden! A lot of fun!

    Blitz 20-02 still has a lot of things going for it. This is even after 5 years of being on the market. The pick up and play aspect of the game works really well for anybody. You don't have to know football inside and out to play the game. The exaggerated animations in the game are hilarious and fun, and make you say, "Oh My god!" When someone does a front flip on top of and already downed carrier. All of the characters in the game all feel like they are having a blast playing football. This game has always brought me a lot of joy. After 5 years, I still find myself pulling it out to play it. It still is a beautiful game that holds up with the times and will keep holding its own for years to come.

    NFL Blitz 2002 rocks

    NFL Blitz 2002 has great graphics, better than nfl blitz 1999,2000, or 2001. The players run alot faster and there are more than 1,500 new animations.I like that you can choose the team you play against, with the other games you don't get to do that. It's awesome how there is instant replay so you can see the play you just did. There is a short NFL Blitz theme video at the beginning that is neat to watch. There are new bone crushing tackles and late hits. If you had to choose between any of the NFL Blitz games choose NFL Blitz 2002.

    NFL Blizt 20-02 (Game Cube, 2002)

    My son loves that this game has a "No Rules" to football. He can jump on the other team, slam them, kick them, etc and no penalties. This is a BOYS game!!
