Almost a must!
It’s very practical and easy on your neck. The best stargazing is done on objects that are of high elevations. This is where the atmosphere to look through is thinnest. In order to point your telescope you need to use the finderscope at high elevations this means you’ll probably need to kneel to 3 ft. above the ground in order to see through it, that’s a challenge. This deflects the line of sight by 90 degrees making it do-able while you’re standing upright, and converting torture into fun. The finder also has a prism that makes your image upright and symmetrically correct, like looking through binoculars. That also contributes to how easily you can align your telescope. Add to this it has an aperture of 50mm and a wide field if view, with a 9x magnification. This makes guiding you ... It’s very practical and easy on your neck.
