OK so I'm no photographer and certainly not a gadget freak. My last camera was a 3.2 mega pixel model which served me well for a while but I needed something better in order to take my own good looking photos. I needed macro capability for close-ups and a decent number of MP's to capture more detail. I ended up going for the Fuji Finepix Z100FD because there was a used one going cheap on eBay. I won't blind you with science and technology, because I can't. All I can say is this; The macro capability is awesome. You can get really clear, detailed close-ups of very small details. Try taking a few pics, changing the zoom level etc and you'll find the perfect picture. I found that I could even (using the optical zoom) take very clear pictures of small text from the other side of the room. The colours are almost always very accurate. However, some colours like turquoise/teal tend to come out wrong. There's probably a way around that but I don't know what it is. The camera is very compact but still easy to use. The menu buttons on the back are easy to navigate and the camera is turned on and off by sliding the front lens cover. Very cool. In short, if you are looking to upgrade from a basic camera to something more capable and are wondering if this camera is for you, it is. I'm very impressed with what this camera offers and would definitely buy it again if I had the chance. Overall rating from a digi camera novice: 9/10Read full review
I decided to buy this camera after 1 1/2 years of using my 5mpix Sony Ericsson camphone, which is good in brightly lit conditions but produces washed out images. So in a way, this was my first proper camera. I didn't want a bulky SLR, nor anything to plain as I would rather have an ultra compact camera that can easily fit into my pocket & looks fantastic. With a budget of under £100, I was also looking for something that can take decent pictures. So when I found out about this camera , I was love-struck (so to speak!) as it seemed to fit the bill After doing much research (and doing my head in with the mixed reviews), I decided to take the plunge & got the cappuccino brown colured one off ebay for a cheap £80 (RRP £140+) Pros: + The diagonal lens cover is simply out of this world, not forgetting the illuminating "Z" when slid open! Very slim & chic. A huge brag factor + Very bright 2.7" LCD screen for reviewing pictures & videos + The spin dial is a joy to use + Buttons on the back are neatly arranged & good tactile feedback + 5x optical zoom (with the digital zoom turned off) works fantastic + Plenty of different modes to choose, favourite being 'natural & flash' mode + Decent video Cons: - No button to switch to video mode on the exterior (i.e. u'l have to enter menu & scroll up to video mode) - When scrolling, you can't go one level back (i.e. if you scroll to settings & change something, you'll instantly return to camera mode - VERY annoying if you have to change more than 1 settings at once) - Video not so brilliant/tend to be grainy in dim lighting - Resulting images were very inconsistent: (a) Good lighting (i.e. bright sunny day) - very good pictures (b) Dim lighting (i.e. cloudy day; indoors) - slightly washed out, blurred edges, colours aberrations & overexposed at times (c) Poor lighting (i.e. night time, clubs) - [i] without flash: grainy, blurred edges [ii] with flash: very frequent appearance of white spots/bubbles in images, flash too strong resulting in shiny faces! Although for a camera under £100 I shouldn't expect too much & thought I could live with editing the pictures every now & then, it's really getting on my nerves after merely 2 weeks of usage! All in all, it's a decent party camera for those who want an super chic point-and-shooter but doesn't care much about image quality. But in my opinion, save up & get a better camera. I'm gonna sell off mine & get a new one sadly!Read full review
I had been searching for a while for a compact with a good zoom, and I came across this little gem. I have to say it is a great camera. The picture quality is high with 8mp being plenty. One of its great benefits is that you don't always need the flash, the massive ISO range takes care of low light conditions well, although make sure you use the anti-blur. I have to say that face detection was a bit of a let down. It's OK but doesn't always pick up the faces, and sometimes it can loose them again. My only other niggle is that you have to remove the battery to recharge (something I have only had to do once so far!) and that it doesn't come with a funky Fuji docking station. There is built in infra-red which I think I can use to send pics to my phone, but I haven't worked it out yet! One last thing - this camera is nice and small, so keep it in your pocket and you can forget camera phones, this will capture the moment so much better. Overall though this is a really excellent camera, if you are looking for great quality at a reasonable price you will probably get a good deal here.Read full review
Great camera with several good features including underwater modes. The only real negative about the product is there is no white balance "Set" function and it doesnt save in RAW mode. That said, I didnt expect it to for the price and spec. Its a great camera for throwing in a pocket and carrying around all day without feeling it bouncing around. Great zoom and 8MP images. Fuji could do with taking a little more care during assembly tho as this is the second one Ive bought due to screws falling out within a couple of weeks from new and flakey feeling sliding cover. Build quality 6/10 Product functionality 8/10
Absolutely Impressed but the build and the quality of the camera. Easy handling absolutely impressive features. the quality of pictures are immaculate and flash work perfect when needed. will recommend to everyone out there.
Bought this camera for my own, which I broke. Take care when inserting mini USB lead as it is very easy to bend the wires inside the camera. I have decided that it will be safer to remove SD card and use a reader instead. The camera takes good quality pictures and videos, is quite intuitive to operate and overall represents good value. The battery lasts a decent length of time and that's really the reason I bought another.
this is a fantastic camera it is nice and small and takes fantastic photos, it does more than i ever thought and the battery life is very long, its good for taking photos if you sell on ebay as it as a aution mode which allows you to take 4 photos of the item your selling all in one photo. There is so much this camera can do it does all the work for you in taking a fantastic photo it also does vidieos as well. there is so much this camera will do i could write a book please believe me when i say you wont regret buying one of these, there nice and small to take anywhere and the zoom is brilliant i can take pictures so close in and the photo looks great it also as face detection and antishake so you will never have a blurred photo,it is so easy to use my 8 year old took a great photo with i think the antishake helped her lol well i hope this helps if your thinking of buying one regards janet.psRead full review
Compact. Mighty. Foolproof. User friendly and easy to use. Bought as a present to wean my wife off 35mm. For someone who had an aversion to anything 'digital' she has embraced it completely and uses it more often than her old 35mm. She even went on a course on how to use a digital camera.
It was bought for my daughter as a replacement for 1 that was stolen. It works well underwater which was why she wanted it. Other pictures are good too. Don't really know much more as I haven't used it myself.
I love this camera - probably because I require an easy to use one that takes quality pics. Just point and shoot and if the picture isn't right just delete - easy as that and they transfer quickly and easily onto my computer - don't have to be a genius - which is a good thing!! My original one got dropped therefore needed another one urgently so spent the next two weeks looking on e-bay and finally found one at an unbeatable price in nearly new condition so I am now a happy bunny. Can't fault this camera at all.
