I have managed to get everything working with the recorders and I have a complex Ariel and BT system that goes to the rest of our house. I have managed to record from live TV onto disc and video tape. I have copied a programme from a video tape onto a dvd. I have even managed to record something from the BT box planner. I haven't tried to set it to record yet but I don't antisipate any problems with that. Would I buy it again. .... Yes

A combination of VHS and DVD in one machine. A good machine in it's day but a bit dated now. It probably wouldn't be used a lot for Freeview recording but good for transferring old VHS tapes to DVD. Also has Scart connections.

Yes it does what I bought it for - copying from my virgin tivo box to DVD. You play the recording through the scart connection to the TV, then at the same time record onto Dvd. The 88 page manual you can download still didn't help me get rid of adverts so I had to revert to manually pausing - hence nearly quite good! Connecting to smart Panasonic TV was a doddle - turn it on and TV switches straight there.

Ideal as allows me to play my video tapes, dvds and acts as freeview allowing me to keep my tv too. Easy set up and connection. It is quite big but fits on the small tv stand and means only one piece of equipment needed. It also lets me know when new channels available. Am using in bedroom thus I do not need pay rental on second cable box. Has recording options and to be honest have not used all its facilities yet so yes well worth the money especially at the price I paid. Ones owned earlier did not have same spec so cannot compare but certainly have no complaints.
Unobtainable new any more, these VHS recorders are essential for one who has many irreplaceable VHS tapes and wants to record them onto DVD. Does the job well.

We are now in an era when VHS is coming to an end if it has not already got there. Many of us have important VHS with family videos or rare VHS videos no longer available on any format. This Panasonic unit is the answer. It will copy all VHS formats to DVD. Panasonic quality.

I was looking for a DVD recorder VHS combi to replace a 5 year old one that was just starting to have problems. The spec has the features I wanted, including Multi region, a Freeview tuner and standard scart connectivity. The performance to date has been fine. Good picture, easy to use menus and electronic guide. However the tray takes an age to open after switching on. Also the record function takes a few seconds after pressing record before it engages. This can be very irritating. The machine I bought was reconditioned so was quite reasonably priced. There may be better machines on the market, but this one is overall good value. However because of it's slowness I can only give it an average rating.
An excellent product, although the instructions are a bit detailed to digest at first. It is a pity that Panasonic do not continue making them, as most of us still have old family video which is ideally suited to these machines, and this old footage is irreplaceable if the original VHS tape dies on you! The choice of both HDMI and SCART is especially handy for connection to older types of equipment. Look at the definition of the ceiling of Kings College chapel Cambridge during the annual carol service and you will see how good the DVD recording quality of this machine is, although it is essential to use high quality SCART cables.

Love this piece of retro kit. I found some old vhs tapes, I had recorded them 28 years ago. On the labels I had written the occasions on them. I had forgotten all about them. As for the player, it had been binned some years ago. I saw this advertised. It was a little expensive, but with the dvd player as well, I hoped it would play and copy my tapes. It was like stepping back in time. The vhs was as clear as when I had taped it. Amazing. I was so wrapped up in playing them all back, time flew by. Over even hours of memories. This old player was fabulous. lt was more than I had hoped for.
