    The 1972 version with Charlton Heston was better

    I also have the 1972 version of this movie with Charlton Heston and, while this Harrison Ford version was good, I much prefer the earlier version. The new version is entertaining however it seems synthetic. It lacks soul. Part of the problem is the computer generated dog, while incredibly realistic, it just doesn't match what a real dog could offer. Also, several of the key actors were just that, actors. They tried too hard to fill roles instead of behaving like real people. They didn't bring forth the hardships that the real prospectors endured which the 1972 version did much better.

    Take your dog outside in the snow and make your own movie. You might enjoy it more.

    The acting was atrocious! The director must be a high school student. I feel so bad for Harrison Ford for signing up to do this movie. I thought it might be along the lines of "The Edge" with Anthony Hopkins. Something with a wild story line and back bone. This was strictly a movie for children. Wow! What is going on in the movie industry?
