About this product

Product Information

The Sunday Times Bestseller In Wonders of the Solar System - the book of the acclaimed BBC TV series - Professor Brian Cox will take us on a journey of discovery where alien worlds from your imagination become places we can see, feel and visit. The Wonders of the Solar System - from the giant ice fountains of Enceladus to the liquid methane seas of Titan and from storms twice the size of the Earth to the tortured moon of Io with its giant super-volcanoes - is the Solar System as you have never seen it before. In this series, Professor Brian Cox will introduce us to the planets and moons beyond our world, finding the biggest, most bizarre, most powerful natural phenomena. Using the latest scientific imagery along with cutting edge CGI and some of the most spectacular and extreme locations on Earth, Brian will show us Wonders never thought possible. Employing his trademark clear, authoritative, yet down-to-earth approach, Brian will explore how these previously unseen phenomena have dramatically expanded our horizons with new discoveries about the planets, their moons and how they came to be the way they are.

Seller sent GBA box in a cardboard envelope. Could have been protected better in transit given the value of the item (£100) but item received undamaged so no harm done. Many thanks

Would have been better if book had been packaged with padding as it has marks on from being in the postal system but the book is good

  • Most critical review

Just what I wanted for my daughter.

Fantastic book for my daughter. As she love things about space. The book is full of amazing things for her to look at and learn how our solar system is, but abit of a shame that there was writing in the book from someone's grandparents. Would have been nice to know that there was writing init. As now I can't give it to her for a Christmas present. 😒

  • Great beginners book of the solar system

What a fantastic book, I am new to astronomy and understanding the planets and solar system, and this book has it all. Professor Cox explains everything so well and in language you can understand. This is my first but certainly not my last Professor Cox book.

  • Relevant, useful, but sometimes irritating

A good complement to the television series. There's plenty of content and the pictures are excellent. Unfortunately, some of the text appears to have been written by a 12-year old, e.g., Page 58: "... where this wind that emanated so powerfully from the surface of the Sun has literally run out of steam."
