Synopsis
A classic, comic easy reader about getting a pet! In this beloved Beginner Book, a young boy hilariously learns the consequences of not following instructions when he feeds too much to his goldfish--causing it to grow as big as a whale! With delightfully retro illustrations by P.D. Eastman ( Go, Dog. Go! ), the message of the book--that getting a pet is a big responsibility--is as true today as it was when the book was published in 1961. Beginner Books are fun, funny, and easy to read! Launched by Dr. Seuss in 1957 with the publication of The Cat in the Hat , this beloved early reader series motivates children to read on their own by using simple words with illustrations that give clues to their meaning. Featuring a combination of kid appeal, supportive vocabulary, and bright, cheerful art, Beginner Books will encourage a love of reading in children ages 3-7. "Comic pictures show how the fish rapidly outgrows its bowl, a vase, a cook pot, a bathtub." -- The New York Times, A classic, comic easy reader about getting a pet In this beloved Beginner Book written by Mrs . Condition exactly as described/pictured. Most importantly, the exact correct part (this one is somewhat uncommon, and many have the very widely available one listed as fitting this specific trim - but it does not). Seller was communicative and shipped quickly. Item was packaged very well - far more than adequate for its journey (and modest value). In short, seller is a pleasure to do business with. Many thanks!

The remote is of decent quality for the price. It was in perfect condition and had never been opened, just as the seller stated. I'm more impressed with the efforts of the seller than anything. He/she went above and beyond to get me this item to me, after an issue that was created by my error. They continued to communicate with me and shipped this item TWICE to ensure I received it. I would definitely recommend this seller to anyone.

    Good value for the money.

Bought this as a present for my youngest. I'm having all her teachers from kindergarten all the way up to 12 grade sign it, and I'll give it to her as a graduation present. So, as a used book, it was in really good condition. There were a few marks throughout the book but since her teachers are writing in it, it wasn't that big of a deal. Also, the stickers that were on it easily came off. Good value for the price. I recommend.

  • Great book!

This is a very cute story about what happens when a little boy feeds his new fish too much food. It carefully teaches the importance of listening to instructions without any real harm coming to the fish. My 2 yr old has become fixated on "the Otto book" and has me retell the story even without the book!

  • The perfect book of what pet ownership means

This book is a classic to be added to every household. It teaches about reasons for following directions, and effects of caring too much and not abiding by given instruction. The depths the kid goes through to care for his pet are valuable to everyone and shows that a little goldfish is more important than most believe.
