    Underrated show, affordable box set

    Seriously underrated show with incredible attention to detail in sets and costuming. Fantastic cast of characters with great arcs, and a satisfying finale. 3-4 episodes per disc, 3 discs per season. Each season has behind the scenes clips. Complete collection box set is way more affordable than purchasing each season digitally. Very happy to have this.

    Historical fact meets literary fiction with booming cannon and slashing cutlasses...

    Black Sails is an odd pot of gumbo to say the least but somehow it just seems to work. The premise is that the story is a prequel of sorts to Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island that blends historical figures like Calico Jack Rackham, Anne Bonney, Charles Vane, Woodes Rogers, and even Blackbeard with characters created by Stevenson—Captain Flint, Billy Bones and Long John Silver to create a tale that's as much about the closing days of the pirate era in the early 1700s as it is about how the titular treasure of Stevenson's novel came to be amassed and hidden. As such, it is not surprising that the narrative sometimes plays fast and loose with historical facts but still manages to create a thematically accurate and gripping look at a bygone era with plenty of violence, sex and intrigue ...

    great series for the money.

    great series. Had a few issues with it playing, needed 2 dvd players to play all the DVDs. Some would play in one player but not the other. Not sure why, but I did get all the dvds to play and for the money, the series was well worth it.
