To begin with, I myself am not a Climber, but I found this Everest Rescue Story an excellent Read. There is a lot that goes into Planning a Mountaineering Expedition and this is told in great detail. Also the Commercial aspect to Climbing I found fascinating. Then the Authors go into detail about the Climbers themselves, and eventually the Everest Climb begins. The Research and Interviews done by W. DeWalt are extensive, and the Interview with Boukreev is captured word for word as he recalls the Rescue by him after the Summit attempt. His broken English is left as is and makes for Unforgettable reading. After the Climb, the story in chronicled with many Sorrows and some Joyful moments as well. The Photos of the Expedition capture the Raw Beauty of the Mountain-Scape and Group Pictures too.Read full review

Great book, after reading Into Thin Air it was great to hear another point of veiw on the story. Jon Krakauer unfairly criticized and condemmed Boukreev and the Mountain Madness team. This is the other side of the story.
