If you are going to overhaul your 1960 or newer Sturmey Archer 3 speed hub, you should consider purchasing this part and replace your old Nylon Cap! The old Nylon Caps becomes brittle and the caps's top plug insert eventually breaks off. If your cap's plug insert has already broken off, you will need to use a pair of long nose pliers or a dentist pick to remove what is left of the old brittle cap. Once the old cap is removed, you will need to first push the new cap into the hub's hole and then turn the new cap clockwise to screw it in, until the new cap is seated flat on the hub. And now the job is done!

This is a mandatory item. Chances are your not oiling your hub or if you do, your oil cap needs to be replaced to keep your hub running smooth.
