Good to use, time will show more.

I am giving this a 5 star review because it is the best value for money I could find. The scent is more pronounced than that of other tung oils I have used, in a sense that it smell more nutty. I am not sure if that means it is less refined and if that might have an effect on its mould resistance or not, like you would get with many raw linseed oils. I have used it with 50% turps to treat interior Douglas Fir and Ash and the results are great with a lovely silk sheen.

  • 100% Pure Tung Oil

Bought to cover newly built Cabin / Shed 4mx3m with laplog. A bit like motor engine oil, golden in colour, with very pleasant aroma Positives : Fairly thick and easy to apply with lint free cloth Waterproofing qualities - We had rain shortly after apply 1st coat...water droplets appear on laplog like water droplets on newly polished car......seems to repel water easily Aroma Negatives. As its been windy, some small particles blown in the wind have 'stuck' to tung oil covering on shed, leaving a gritty look, , but will probably come off in time Glad I bought it though. Have enough for a further coat

  • The best wood treatment: there is nothing quite like it!

I discovered tung oil some years ago and it is the best wood preservative I've encountered in my 72 years; I don't know why it isn't more widely known and used. A pair of whitewood gates that I treated with it over 10 years ago look almost as good as new, in the wet wet West of Scotland. I usually recoat them once every year in the spring. I've used on on all wood structures - shed, fencing, etc - in the garden ever since. Far, far better than other garden wood treatments in my opinion. Diluting it 50:50 with white spirit allows it to penetrate the wood better and extends the area that can be treated. It brings out the wood grain and dries to a pleasant satiny finish. Very good value and well worth the cost! Thank you. GD

  • Natural protection

Good product that can be thinned easily for 'base' coats and built up steadily. Low odour and pleasant to work with.
