Everything I expected and more. Bought as a portrait lens, equivalent to 100mm @ 35mm it is one of my favourite focal lengths. The macro is a bonus, but no matter what I'm taking the pictures are pin sharp - I use it with a 600D and really enjoyed using a fixed focal length for a change! You can feel the quality in the weight of the lens - noticeably heavier than some of my larger zooms.
I can not say that this lens is not excellent and may be good, that I marked it is not a fare marking. The reason behind it is because I have not used it a lot. Where I have used it I liked it very much. Yes I would reccomend it to others to buy it. I found it easy to use, and very good on micro and face photographs. Thats what this lens is made for. With my Canon EOS 50D I found it okey. You need a tripod and a remote switch to have excellet results. I am still learning from it, and I am happy that I bought this lens.
I had looked at reviews and comments on many lenses when I decided to upgrade my Canon 50mm f1.8 II portrait fixed lens for my EOS 40D. I could no be happier with the choice. It is of really solid construction, super fast autofocus and has provided some razorsharp images at f2.8. Very pleased with this Canon lens and I would recommend it to anybody. I paid €302 on eBay, a vey good eal.
I wanted a 50mm lens but tried a friends 60 macro and thought it was first class and also with macro was an extra bonus. I was very happy at the price .
Looking for a lens as a begginer I bought the item as it was reccomended on the internet. It is lightweight, and the quality of the images are excellent.
