Tons of drag, great freespool, and seamless shifting between high and low gears. You would have to spend twice as much to get a better reel. Easily measures up to reel costing $500 or even more. Best bang for your buck hands down. Shimano, Avet, Okuma and Diawa had better watch out.

I own 2 60LD2s, 2 40NLD2s and 1 25NLD2. The 60s and 40s are used for trolling and the 40s are also with the 25 used for bottom fishing. The 25 is so light one can hold it all day long. The Fathom 2 speeds are phenomenal reels, essentially Torque internals with a metal case....

Love the two speed design which can easily and seamlessly switch from hi speed to low speed with the push of a button. Seems to be extremely powerful in low but I haven't caught anything larger than a 15-16# Red Snapper on it which I cranked in on low without a problem. Will put it to the test once Amber Jack season reopens and I can put it up against some 40-60# fish!!

I have 4 Penn International 130s and one 50 two speed, 5 or 10 112-114 series reels and half a dozen others as well as some heavy Daiwa and other rigs.. I like this Fathom well enough that I'm going to buy another one in a couple of weeks just as soon as I can find a clamp that will lock it to an 80 class rod with a 1 3/8 (34mm) diameter..

Strong lightweight reel with a superior drag system. The 60 size holds a ton of line and weighs half of what an International weighs at a third of the price. Just what I needed for the big So. Cal bluefin.
