Instruction Manual - The manual is to simple for me with no technical information. I had to Google wire diagrams to correctly connect the wires at the t-stat and furnace. You must set up this t-stat with the Lyric app. I did use the "Notes" page at the back of the English section to write down the t-stat's model number and my internet gateway SSID and Network Key to have quick access to this info if I have to re-connect the wi-fi connection. I keep the manual on my desk. Lyric App - During set-up, the t-stat had problems connecting to my android phone. I just had to keep activating the command to connect to my phone and it finally connected. Then, connecting to my internet gateway went smoothly and the t-stat registered with Honeywell. I did have a wi-fi control problem. I went to the "Messages" section of the Lyric app and found that it sent an error report to Honeywell and soon after it was fixed automatically! I did not have to call the 800 number. I did use the "Help" link in the app to learn more about this t-stat. Buried in the Help section I found a necessary function that gets you into the set-up of this t-stat. You enter the set-up by pressing and holding down the Cloud icon on the face of the t-stat for 5 seconds. You now can reconnect to your wi-fi or go through the set-up process again or get technical info about the t-stat....etc. When you do use this set-up function to reconnect the wi-fi or reconfigure the t-stat, you use it with the Lyric app to make your changes. Wire Connections - To connect or disconnect wires to the base plate you must use a ball point pen to push down on the plastic tab for the wire you use. There is a tiny well depression in the plastic tab that the ball of the pen fit's into. Unseen to you or I, there is a plastic "wedge" below this tab that spreads the copper connector so you can insert or remove the wire easily. On Ebay, I have seen many Used Lyric t-stat's with broken plastic tabs because the installer does not understand how the connections work. In frustration, they try to lift the plastic tab and break it off in a attempt to remove the wire. This does not cause damage to the connector and you can still connect or disconnect wires using a sharpened golf tee to spread the terminal connector. The "C" wire Connection - There are 2 reasons to use the "C" wire connection. #1) The Apple HomeKit communication system needs this wire connection to get 24 VAC from the furnace to the Lyric t-stat. #2) To illuminate the led display numbers on the face of the Lyric 24 hours, 7 days a week. When you first install this t-stat and don't use the "C" wire, the led face display shuts off after about 3 seconds. When you approach the t-stat, it illuminates the dial for 3 seconds and turns off. Make a manual temp adjustment it illuminates for 3 seconds...you guessed it....then shuts off. VERY ANNOYING!! Buried within the Lyric Help section, I discovered that you can illuminate the face display 24/7 at a reduced brightness if you connect the "C" wire. It just supplies 24 VAC from the furnace to the t-stat base. You usually do not have to run a new wire because modern wire harness's have 5 or 8 wires. The extra unused wires are just wrapped around the cable or tucked behind the old t-stat. Wire color is not important when connecting the "C" wire, you just pick an unused color. I used the last BLUE wire in my 5 wire harness and made the connections at the "C" connector of the furnace circuit board and the "C" connector at the t-stat base. When you power the system back up and the t-stat is working good, you can adjust the stand-by brightness in the Lyric app. Just go the the Thermostat selection in the Lyric app and go to "Sleep Brightness Mode" and adjust it from 0% to 50%. I use 50% and can see the display quite nicely from across the room. Of course, the display goes to 100% when you walk up to it and activate the proximity sensor. Read full review

This item was marked NEW, but was not and registered through a different user. I had to go through a lengthy process to unregister the previous owner and register the device through me. The product itself works, however the standard features (WiFi, Alerts, etc) required registering.

I ordered five of these and installed them at our church. We have number of different organizations and congregations that use our facility. The app works great and syncs long distance, the Geo fencing works really well because it allows me to not have to monitor it all the time. I just set myself an alarm and check them once at night to make sure they're not on all night. Saving us a ton of money, well worth the price

I've had these thermostats for about a year. These (I have a two zone AC/Heater set-up) little thermostats are really cool, and work flawlessly. Programming is easy. Set-up and wi-fi connection was by the book and simple. GREAT bang for the buck. Really modern feel, easy and quick on/off for manual operation, and super accurate temp control. My AC guy was very impressed. Would have cost me an arm and a leg to purchase an equivalent NEST (or another inferior thermostat) through him. This Honeywell Lyric is a gem. Easy wire for wire install to replace the crappy units I upgrade to just a few years back. And my home is a larger dual zone gas heater & elec AC installation - a pricey 4200 sq ft house in So Cal. I am particular about how thing work - but like a deal. The Lyric thermos were a steal.Read full review

The lyric round thermostat is a good value. It requires a common terminal run to the ac control board. It can be used for high efficency units with multiple stages of heat and cool, heat pumps and gas furnaces. The display shows ambient temperature and humidity and indoor temperature and humidity as well. It is easily programmable to change temperature on schedule. It comes with a round nameplate that the thermostat attaches to and can be easily removed. Manual operation is done by rotating the thermostat wheel. Only improvement needed is a way to control fan without using app, changing from auto to on. But it works well, lights up when motion is sensed or changing settings. Display is digital. Also has geofencing to switch settings when you leave the area which can be adjusted. Overall a good value.Read full review
