    Excellent oil - I wouldn't trust anything else

    For semi-synthetic Castrol Magnatec, the price was exceptional. The oil has been in and out of various petrol and diesel cars in our household for years, and I wouldn't trust anything else to protect my engine on those cold mornings you can sympathetically feel the metal parts of the engine working hard against one another. I change the oil every 10K in all of our vehicles, and this stuff hasn't failed us yet.

    semi synth or synthetic ?

    Car out of warranty this year and I am free to do my own simple servicing like oil and filter change and other filters and plugs.. Noticed that 10w40 semi synth is listed in the car maker schedule in the sort of temperatures we get in UK. On draining the fully synth in the sump I noticed how dirty it was and burned it smelled. I have very low mileage per annum and maybe they skipped changing the oil because it is hailed as long life ? Anyway I reckon I will drop this oil in six months and see what it looks and smells like. Already the car is quieter on idle and seems smoother on acceleleration. For a three year old car with only 16000 miles on the clock this would be what I expect. So far 1000 miles on this oil and no oil used. I am happy with it and will keep checking before deciding to ...

    High quality oil

    We have a number of vehicles in the family and some have very high mileages. I find the heavier Castrol oil good for them. The down-side is that Castrol seem to have stopped selling 5 litre bottles and have moved to 4 litre. I find that slightly annoying. Its a good, quality oil,
