I will assume that the readers of this review are already familiar with cordless power drills, if not specifically Dewalt 18v XRP drills. First, there are many models of dewalt XRP drills. They have changed their product line with time as most companies do. Please note though that the same drill may have different model numbers depending on what kit they were sold with. This can be somewhat confusing. This model has a better balance and weight distribution than some of the older models. It boasts the smaller base (NANO) which is totally backwards compatable with older battery packs. I love this drill for its overall performance. I am a business owner and professional installer, responsible for the purchasing of tools for myself and my crews. I find that I did prefer the speed controls on the older drills that were laid out perpendicular to the drive. On this drill, you will notice that the speeds are laid out vertically and toward the rear of the drill. They don't switch as smoothly, so I am concerned as to the overall durability (only time will tell). Besides that, this drill is easier on you to work with and packs the same horse power as the previous versions (450watts). Combine this drill and the lithium battery packs and you probably have the best cordless hammerdrill in the world. I have owned and used many brands with voltages up to 24volts, So, I hope you can value my opinion. Angelo, President, Ace Integrity Systems, Inc.Read full review
For the price and quality really satisfied. Just wish could find extra battery. Seems to have all the power I need and lightweight. Of course over a lot of use will never stand up to a Dewalt or Milwaukee in durability. But feel it as a throw away and can use until can afford an upgrade. Just might need to get a new battery over time and unable to find. Also wish there were other tools that you could use battery with but it is a odd size.

This item is a great value and excellent tool. I like the fact that it has the 3 setting for screw, drill and hammer drill. The tool is very balanced and easy to use.

Drills have 3 speeds and the 3rd speed destroy's tool, but it is still better than the compatition, my guys can't stop using the 3rd speed, DON'T. Dewalt stands behind product above and beyond warrenty in many case's. I have No Complaints with service. I keep at least 6 18v drills, 4 impacts (are exellent), 2 saw zall's, 2 skill saws. I only have problems with drills and battteries. But I have tried, the red ones ( Milw ) and the blue ones ( maki ) and they are not worth the money.
I have always liked the DeWalt cordless drill and had a used one that was worn out and needed another. As a sole propri. elec. contr.I use it quite a bit and it is an all in one tool for me. This one has a L.E.D. light that is intermitant but I am not real concerned about it, lately it has been working. It is amazing w/3 speeeds, easy switch to hammer drill, excellent brake and steel chuck with speed claws or whatever you call it.
