A wonderful price & speedy delivery - Arrived less than 24 hours after placing my order. Lens in immaculate condition. Box had been opened, but lens had not been used. Did phone the shop to get some advice before ordering & they were most helpful. Not pushing on sales at all - more like talking to a friend. Can highly recommend GW Cameras as a supplier.

If you're dithering, then don't. Buy it, you'll not regret it

So I have a Sigma 24-70 2.8 which I reviewed and it's brilliant but recently I've wished it had just a bit more on the zoom end. I was looking at the Nikon 24-120 f/4, as with everything I buy i read as many reviews as i could find. The problem I have and I don't think this will be exclusive to photography, is that the people who do a review say things that really have no real life bearing on the average buyer. I say this because I cannot afford the really madly priced pro lenses so I always look for a bargain priced mid range lens and when I read things like it's soft all over at f/4 or at the edge etc all I can think is where? how big are you zooming in to see this softness. Are you taking in to account that paying well over 500 quid for a lens means it's highly likely I'll be shooting ...

  • Excellent all round lens

So many variable reviews about this lens made me think that I had made a bad decision to spend money on an item of variable quality. All I can say being a Leica user and used to Leica glass and Carl Zeiss is that this absolutely very good value for money. The output given that this is a zoom is first class. Resolution is as good as I will ever need. The downside is that the focussing motor can be heard on video recording. That is it. If you need a solid performer and have room for only one lens - get this. No regrets even shooting directly into the sun there is no flare unless the lens is dusty and needs a clean.

  • Best streetsweeper zoom lens for the money

When I first started out as a freelance photo-journalist back in 1983 zoom lenses were on the whole pretty poor. I only ever used prime lenses. Since going digital I've tried the 28-105 D (good lens bit slow on the focus). 28-120mm D (totally pants). This lens is a very different kettle of fish. I use it on a D700 body and I find the auto focus faster than any other zoom lens Ive had. It's sharp even at f4. It's a bit soft right on the edges when wide open at wide angle but most zooms are. For me it's not unreasonably soft. Barrel distortion is quite pronounced at 24mm but as I shoot in RAW and process in the Photoshop RAW screen this is corrected perfectly with a couple of clicks. The zoom ring is reassuringly tight. This is quite a heavy lens but if you have a good shoulder/neck strap ...

  • Nikon AF-S 24-120 mm f/4 G ED N

A superior product to Nikon's previous generation 24-120mm lens. Optically better in every way. The Vibration Reduction (VR) works a treat. The zoom mechanism is smooth and nicely weighted. With careful handling indoor shots at 120mm, and 1/8th of a second at f/4 are possible and come out sharp. Recommended.

  • As a keen amateur this a perfect lens for me.

Excellent sharp lens, feels solid and very well made. the focal range of 24-120mm gives it a wide range The vibration reduction is top class the focus speed, coupled with my Nikon d810 its a brilliant combination love it.
