Waking With Enemies The Entertainment Critic Book Review By James Myers WAKING WITH ENEMIES-By Eric Jerome Dickey Published by Dutton An Imprint of The Penguin Group (USA) 418 Pages ISBN# 978-0-525-95038-7 (Four Star Rating)**** “And I was afraid. I’d killed a man in Tampa. Had killed a man and most of his associates. Had increased my income by over six figures honoring that contract.” “And I knew that brutal death would not go unpunished.” “It wasn’t confirmed, but that I had been followed.” “That told me there might be a contract out on me” “Revenge knew no bounds.” “The hunter had become the hunted.” “I had become one of them.” “The people I went to see, when I was the last face they saw.” “So I was afraid. There was nothing wrong with fear.” “So long as that fear was controlled.” “But it was undeniable, the way it was bubbling beneath the surface.” “I was on edge because I had been stalked for the last day.” “Afraid because death was at my hotel room, lurking on the other side of my door.” International contract killer Gideon is the dangling man on steroids. He can trust no one. Waking With Enemies picks up where the cliffhanger, Sleeping with Strangers left off. After a 4 month wait, New York Times Best Selling Author, Eric Jerome Dickey is back with a masterful, gritty, modern and decidedly black detective story, that will keep you awake a night. Gideon has just finished a messy job in Tampa. He was hired by a rapper named Sledge to kill a rival rapper named Big Wolf. He slaughtered Big Wolf and his entire crew. It’s all over the news, along with information that Sledge and his crew have been killed. So who is left? Someone has taken out a contract on him. The best lead Gideon has is that a man with bend nose is trying to kill him. Who hired him and why? Who can Gideon trust? So, he holes up in a hotel room in London, with two beautiful, sexy women, waiting to see how it plays out. Can he trust them? They are both beautiful and physically sexual, he just cannot resist. But his feelings are mixed. Are one or both a plant? What happened to the beautiful Arizona? The woman he wants, but cannot have. She arranged the Big Wolf hit. Is she dead too? Is she the one coming after Gideon? Every decision he makes could be his last. Meanwhile, Gideon has his own work to do. He has been hired to kill a pedophile. He’s trying to find his mother. And at the same time he’s trying to stay alive and track down the bend nosed man, to kill him before he gets to Gideon. Plus Arizona wants him to kill her sister Sierra. Is it a trap? Every twist and turn is fraught with danger. To top that off he is learning secrets about his past, his mother, his father, his birth that he did not know before. To say that he is conflicted is a gross understatement. Our man has issues. His entire life is one big walk in the dark. He finds that he is constantly on edge and in way too deep. He’s trying to outsmart the assassin who has been hired to kill him, but his allies are murky. He finds that he is in the untenable position of being forced to rely on old enemies for the truth. It is a dangerous, fascinating game of cat and mouse that not only has him in danger, but his lady friends as well. To get everyone out alive, he must rely on his enemies. Dickey does not disappoint in the hot, sexy squeal. Daring, exciting and red hot, this is a thrill ride that brings us to the extremes of dangerRead full review
This book was absolutly amazing! Cound not put it down. how ever you must read the first one to realy understand the second one wich is waking with enemies. I would really recomend this book to anyone who loves a good thriller. It is dark and also very sexual. GREAT sex scenes in here very detailed. I could picture them as if i was watching it right infront of me. Hats off to Eric Jerome Dickey for a great 2 part series!!!
I decided to buy this book because I read Sleeping with Strangers from a book sale for charity. I didn't think I'd like it too much, but the title sounded good. Once I picked up Sleeping With Strangers I couldn't put it down. Then I found this book was the second part so I just had to read it. It's a complete page turner and I loved every minute of reading this book. There's action and romance, hurt and despair. It seems to be everything mixed into one. This is a must read for anyone who loves action.
This book is definitely meant for adults. It is a good read and is fast paced enough, so that you do not get bored. The sexual scenes are very explicit and sometimes include more than two people. The action is also good, and it has you in anticipation. I did not know, however, that there is a book that comes before it entitled "Sleeping with the Enemy", which you should read first.
I decided to buy Waking With Enemies because it is a sequel to another Eric Jerome Dickey book, Sleeping With Strangers. Both were excellent books. Waking With Enemies is very suspenseful and erotic. An excellent book I would recommend to anyone interested in reading thrilling works.
Well if you're a fan of EJD then you know that the book is interesting. This book picks up where it's prequel Sleeping with Strangers left off. It's recommened that you first read that one, but this one will give you a brief overview of that book as well.
If you read "Sleeping with Strangers". this is the sequel to it and it is great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I couldn't stop reading it, read it in 1,5 day!!
I bought the entire series from different people on ebay... Can't wait to read them all! They are walking with enemies, sleeping with strangers and dying for revenge by eric jerome dickey!
