Item arrive in good shape and as describe. Be advised: This seller takes an inordinate amount of time to ship and claims to be "Understaffed" - Shipping status is inaccurate and "automated"(?). Communication, however, was timely.

  • Still working after all these years.

I have two. I’m a medium wave DXer and have quite a collection of radios. Shortwave and FM reception don’t matter as much and neither does sound quality, to an extent. This radio does a good job on the AM broadcast band (MW). Not only is it plenty sensitive, it’s plenty selective. For example, you don’t get a lot of splatter from 850 KOA, our local blowtorch, on 840 and 860. You don’t need an external antenna to have fun doing MWDX - there are benefits to a portable’s internal antenna, the main one being the ability to peak or null stations and null local noise.

I would recommend this radio because it's very easy to use and the sound quality is good.

The size of the radio is nice & easy to be portable & stand by itself. The long range reception is not what it should be but for being 1988 era it is still around. The speaker is small & fairly clear for its size. Reception for local is just another radio. Long range needs an outside antenna. On a 1-10 this is a 6-7 compared with what is out there today. Price in the 80's was around $80.
