Product Information

The Federation is under siege from Klingon, Romulan, Gorn, and Orion fleets in this real-time strategy game set in the classic Star Trek universe. Playing as either James T. Kirk of the Federation or a member of the Klingon Empire in two distinct campaigns, players will need to master each ship's offensive, defensive, and maneuvering abilities to succeed in battle. The action is viewed from a third-person perspective behind a choice of starships as players engage in a series of missions structured like episodes from the television series. Rather than simply focus on combat, the game offers several diplomatic and leadership choices that will influence subsequent missions in the branching storyline. <br><br>Since each ship has varying strengths, from shields to scanning to weapons capabilities, players will need to learn how to divert resources to protect vulnerable areas as well as exploit weaknesses in the enemy's strategy. Crew members can be promoted using points earned from skillful leadership, potentially enhancing each ship's stats in a number of key areas. In addition to the two campaigns, players can challenge a friend or the computer in either the multiplayer or skirmish modes. Both options feature five playable fleets as rival captains boldly go where no PSP game has gone before. Award-winning Star Trek writer Dorothy Fontana helped pen the game's storyline along with her partner, Derek Chester.

    Good more or less, but tough if you're not used to such games.

    I've been slowly collecting different PSP games, as a veteran of an old tabletop Star Trek combat game by Task Force Games called Star Fleet Battles. I figured I'd give this game a try. The graphics are nice, the controls are clunky, but tollerable for the most part, and it works as a simple space fighting game. Where it fails is in its simplistic story line, and in a combat enviroment where the enemy never makes any mistakes, but you can constantly run into things that damage you before and even during combat... Annoying to say the least. Something this game desperately needed was at least a two-tier (three would have been even better,) difficulty setup, where players who need to could play through at least once on an 'easy' setting, to get used to how the combat system and controls ...

    Fair game

    If you are Star Trek fan its just plain cool to Capt a starship. The game probably will not win any awards, but its fun. Hope to try multiplayers soon. The biggest game flaw is that you can only control the ships is 2 dimensions. Not a brain strainer, but entertaining.
