Capcom revives its monstrous brawler in this PSP launch title. First appearing on the original PlayStation, the Darkstalkers series picks up speed and takes on new features as it moves to the more powerful Sony portable. Players choose from a selection of 18 horror-film inspired characters, including a vampire, a werewolf, a mummy, and several others, then enter fast-paced bouts of classically styled 2D fighting. Two different control schemes are offered, and the game can be played at a "normal" or "widescreen" resolution. Five modes of play include "Arcade," "Training," and two player "Versus" matches through a PSP wireless connection.

Sorry for the delay, folks! The DS system that I ordered from another seller failed to show up, but luckily, my folks had brought over my old 3DS system. So, today, I was able to test it out. Came with everything that was advertised. So props to the seller for his/her honest business conduct. I had already ordered this game way back in 2017, through a friend. A Great Compilation of an Underrated Fighting Game Series.
No doubt Capcom's Street Fighter 2 series was partly successful due to the memorable and original character designs... Knowing that, Capcom decided to start from scratch, and create a whole new fighting game series with "horror" stereotypes as the theme. With the help of some Cool Anime-Styled artwork and a slick presentation, the Darkstalkers series made it's splash in arcades around the world. The character animation is on par with the Street Fighter Alpha series, which was considered very good at the time for 2D video game graphics. The characters all show off original fighting styles & abilities and also have vivid personalities for the most part. Many of the 2D character sprites first seen in Darkstalkers have also been re-used in in later games such as Marvel VS Capcom 2 (2000) and ... No doubt Capcom's Street Fighter 2 series was partly successful due to the memorable and original character designs... Two Sequels and a Semi-Large Fanbase Later, Capcom launched it's first ever 2D fighter for Sony's Playstation Portable, which shows off what it really can do with 2D fighting games... The widescreen nicely smoothes out the dated sprites, makes the hand drawn backgrounds a bit more intense, and no doubt; Darkstalkers never looked better. You can also change the widescreen and bring the dimensions back to normal, if you so prefer. Darkstalkers Chronicle is actually port of the Japan-only Dreamcast game Vampire Chronicle for Matching Service, which is a version of Vampire Savior that allows players to choose their fighting style from all five Darkstalkers arcade games (DarkStalkers, Night Warriors, Vampire Savior and the Japan-only Vampire Savior 2 and Vampire Hunter 2). It features all the characters from prior installments of the series. Much like in Street Fighter: The Anniversary Collection, players choose their character, then the particular "version" of the character from either DS1, DS2, DS3, or DS3(SP). Another great feature is choosing the mode in which the game is played, which can either be Darkstalkers (Matches split into rounds), Night Warriors (Matches split into rounds, with different gauges), or Darkstalkers 3 (Matches split into downs Simular to the Killer Instinct Games.) So fans of the series get to play exactly how they want it. The new "Tower" mode lets you pick 3 characters which you can alternate between fights to scale up the Chaos Tower (in which, you unlock some great content). Surviving on one life bar alone, your 3 characters must climb the tower of matches and survive tough challenges as: No punches, no kicks, no throws, no specials... what? Yeah... It's quite a challenge since there are literally a ton of levels. This mode also lets you build up your super meter like crazy, which is always fun! The "Chronicle" Mode is your museum mode to view your unlocked content. Again, as a long-time fan of the artwork, it sure looks pretty on the PSP... Those of us that appreciate the eye candy might just get their jolly's. Along with art, you'll unlock all character endings from all games, AND all of the intros from previous games as well. How cool is that? This little package rekindles my love for the characters and the setting... it's a beautiful game all together, and works great as a handheld package. However You may want to mod your PSP D-Pad or use an Alternate D-Pad if your having trouble pulling off moves and attacks. Also This game might not be for everyone if your not a fan of Fighting games, So for this reason you may have to try before you b

Fun game-classic Streetfighter type game
I love the fact this game is a compilation of all the different Darkstalker arcade games. You get to see all the characters again like the good ol' days! If you're a streetfighter or darkstalker fan, this is a must-have title. One thing I didn't like about it is more because of the PSP controller restriction. The d-pad isn't very good at recreating the super upper cut motion that SF veterans know so well, plus the lack of a joystick will wear your thumb out after a few minutes of constant playing. I decided to buy it because not many systems release DarkStalkers anymore and I used to be a big streetfighter/darkstalker fan. Hoping to find a worthy opponent to play against one day....I love the fact this game is a compilation of all the different Darkstalker arcade games. Great 2D fighting game
Darkstalkers is a pretty difficult game to find and one of their few releases happened to land on the PSP. If you are a 2D fighting fan and own a PSP, this is a must have. It has a lot of content and plenty of characters to try out. The only complaint I have about this game is that the load time is a little long, but that is to be expected from a PSP game that's this old.

I bought this product based on the fact that I wanted to enjoy a classic fighting game, also because a future game release will feature characters from said game. The game arrived in a awsome conditions the game disc was basically intact, a bit dirty but nothing that can't be cleaned off. Other than that the game is great fast fights and fun multiplayer. This is a game for any Streer Fighter fan and Tekken fan since it has unique likeable characters, and the quick fighting style as the very well-known Marvel vs. Capcom. In other words... I've always been a fan of Darkstalkers, and I was thrilled to learn that it was out for the PSP. I don't have a system at home because who has the time. Darkstalkers has excellent graphics with the characters we all know and love. And since it's for the PSP, you can play it anytime you want...just make sure your supervisor isn't watching. This game is worth getting.
