    Originally bought this trilogy as a gift for my neice .... she was interested in these books, but they took over a month to arrive so I wound up with them instead ..... No sense wasting good money ... I read this trilogy and loved every bit of it .... Barbara Hambly creates an alternate universe where actual magic does work and there are laws about the proper use of it. A 40-ish wizard who learned magic from an evil, renegade wizard has spent his life learning good magic and trying to prove to the council of wizards that he IS a good person and not at all like the evil wizard who originally taught him magic. In his efforts to be a good person, he winds up crossing the "void" between his world and ours to track down a renegade wizard bent on creating chaos and destroying the fabric of his ...
