NOt a great choice of title for this movie
great old black and white movie. Predictable in some ways, but it has its surprises. Loved Sidney Greenstreet as a more-or-less good character. Kept remembering Eleanor Parker in "Sound of Music" but that wasn't her fault!

Intriguing, very theatrical film; ocean liner bound for heaven or hell.
I have to rate this film as excellent because of the unusual concept of people enroute to the afterlife as passengers on an ocean liner. Instead of taking the easy route --- hideous punishments for some and pearly gates for others --- this film presents the intriguing idea that we make our own heaven or hell. A rich, snobby woman is rewarded with a castle --- but she has to live there alone, with no husband and no visitors. While the fate of suicides may offend fundamentalist Christian viewers, it makes logical sense in the context of the film. Keep in mind that this is a film version of a play, made in an era when movies were very theatrical. Some of the performances are overly melodramatic, and many of the actors look directly into the camera instead of the person to whom they are ... I would go so far as to say that some of the acting is actually bad. But this is balanced by the absolutely brilliant, perfect casting of Sydney Greenstreet as the Examiner. He doesn't appear until the end, but he owns his scenes and becomes his character, comforting those who need it and ruthlessly giving others what they deserve. Edmund Gwenn as the steward is also a stand-out. If you're looking for something different that might even make you reconsider some of the bad choices in your life, watch BETWEEN TWO WORLDS.

Accidental find
Years ago I was home sick watching tv and this movie (Between two worlds) was on. I didn’t catch the beginning of the movie but liked this movie. A couple years pass and I thought about trying to find this movie without even knowing the name. I found it immediately and bought it here. It is a Great movie, I will watch this many times now that I own it. Great characters and a fantastic cast!
