This is a sequel to Eddie And The Cruisers, and just like any other sequel, this one isn't as good as the original either. Eddie Wilson was the leader of Eddie And The Cruisers, and in 1957 they were hot. Their album was a hit and everybody wanted the Cruisers. But, as fate would have it, success is often the kiss of death. Their fame was dashed by a new album that they cut named "A Season in Hell". The lyrics were written by "The Woed Man", Tom Berenger, and played and performed by the Cruisers. The producers who sponsored the music hated it. It was just too much ahead of its time for them and they didn't understand it. Unable to handle the rejection, Eddie supposedly committed suicide, although his body was never found. Now, twenty years later, a resurgence of the old music has the Cruisers back in the spotlight. "Word Man", Tom Berenger, has tracked down the old "A Season in Hell" tapes and they have been turned over to a TV news reporter who is doing a special salute to Eddie and the Cruisers, and their music from long ago. She always believed that Eddie Wilson just disappeared, and wasn't killed. The old producers of the music claim ownership and are fixing to capitalize on it, by putting together a "Look-alike" group to go on tour with the original music and lyrics. For the past twenty years Eddie Wilson has been living in Canada under an assumed identity. All of this resurgence of the old music is weighing upon him, and one night while in a bar he meets a young guitarist who has talent, but greatly needs direction. He takes him under his wing and they form a band, very much like the old Cruisers. The old memories come flooding back, but after so much time and deception, he feels trapped. The band keeps practicing, but not playing anywhere. They are really good, too good to be ignored, and word gets out about them. The young guitarist enters the group into a competition. Eddie is afraid of being recognized and when they audition as an opening act, everybody sees them as too good for an opening act, but more as a headliner act. Before long, they are involved in the Eddie Wilson "Look-alike" contest. Eddie wants no part of it and is ready to run again, but can't. His old friend, Sal Amatto, one of the original Cruisers is instrumental in getting him to come back and admit who he really is, and perform his music again. Like the original, the music is very good.Read full review
Not as good as the 1st. The first Had a great cast, nice story line and cool music. The story line in the second, makes Eddie look like he has to many mental issues. Story drags on. Grand finale is weak. The disk has both movies on one disk. Side A/B. Disk quality is good. Second movie is a disappointment.

The music was the best part of the movie. The concert scenes were realistic and the lip sinking was not noticiable. Very good acting and a decent story line. I also purchased both CDs - John Cafferty and the beaver brown band.

Eddie and the Cruisers is one of those movies I never seem to tire of. I got hooked on it when it first hit cable back in the eighties and every time I spotted it on tv somewhere I either watched it or DVR'd it, but I got tired of the editing for commercials, etc. and decided to buy it along with the sequel, which I enjoy just as much.A good Rock and Roll movie is hard to find that isn't cheesy and cliche filled, and although these movies do throw a few around, over all it's a good story line with interesting characters.

If you haven’t seen Eddie and the Cruisers 1 & 2, check it out! This is a movie about a young man and his band, in 1963 trying to get their foot in the door to the world of musical entertainment, who travel the little spots like night clubs to get some try outs and recognition with the public, before trying to go up against the challenges of recording. Eddie is only 17yrs. Old, at this time and still very impressionable, But in his heart he really feels and just knows they are going to be a big hit, so the time comes and they make a tape recording of some of his music and songs; then they go to see a good friend of theirs who is a radio disk-jockey who knows the owner of a recording studio. As he has listened to the tapes and loves it, just knowing it’s great stuff. His friend sets them up with an interview with this studio owner, who is really a dumb jerk who tells Eddie that it their recording is trash and will never sell; and sets Eddie off in disbelief and really hurting inside, like having someone rip your heart out. His saxophone player O.D’s on drugs after this terrible let down, and Eddie takes a ride in his 57 Chevrolet. Still in disbelief, very emotional tears in his eyes, cruising across a bridge he loses control and go’s off into the water where they found his car and pulled it out to find no sign of Eddie’s body. The story takes off 20yrs later, when someone starts playing some of his old tapes on the radio. The rest you must find out for yourselves!!! Sorry, but my daughter is right, I tell way too much, which is true, I have told you too much, and may have spoiled the movie already, SORRY!!! Don’t just buy the first, or just the second disk, you might just find you like it and might not find the other disk later. The price was just great for me, and we all really loved it. Oh yes disk two gives you more insight of what really happened. And how it really turns out, so you‘ll miss the other good parts if you don’t get both. Thank you all and we wish everyone a great and very Merry Christmas Season, and a very Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! From eBay member: mustang_grandpaRead full review
