The best of Led Zeppelin - timeless classic!
Led Zeppelin’s first four albums (and Physical Graffiti) are absolutely brilliant and each should have a place in any serious record collection, however their 4th album (Untitled or sometimes known as ZOSO) is their absolutely finest hour. From the opening bars of ‘Black Dog’ right through to closing track ‘When the Levee Breaks’ there isn’t a single weak moment. The album was recorded at Headley Grange in Hampshire during 1971 and was released in November that year. It proved to be their biggest selling album yet. Produced by Jimmy Page, the group’s fourth album features a wide range of musical styles. The opening track ‘Black Dog’ is a fusion of blues-rock that gives way to the hard rocking second track ‘Rock and Roll’. A change of pace comes with ‘The Battle of Evermore’, featuring ... This gives way to the closer ‘When the Levee Breaks’ which is a thunderous blues rocker, the group at their most frightening, another classic. This is an absolutely classic album, best heard on vinyl. Buy one of the original pressings if you can as they are far superior to the reissues. 1971 was a brilliant year for rock and some brilliant albums came out, this one included. Timeless classic, very highly recommended!
