This 8-year-old iPad can't cope with modern browsers, but you can apply a few workarounds which enable you to download older versions of apps. It's still useful for email and it's great for reading Kindle books. It also holds its charge nicely (10 hours or so) and the Bluetooth works perfectly.

I bought this a birthday present for my wife. It's so easy to use and my children are over it like a bad rash. Very easy to link to the WiFi and you are on the internet in seconds. No delay waiting for a laptop to load up. I've not had a tablet before but will be getting more. My son wants the blackberry version because it plays flash. I'm not sure what flash is but we did try to do a web conference and couldn't because the software was not compatible. So be aware it's fantastic but there are a few things it can't do. It doesn't make tea either which would be handy
The decision to buy an iPad or top Android or even a Surface was really taken by the family. I was not convinced but I have been now. Using it on a day to day basis it is great, not only for entertainment, but also for business. The family use it for games, Facebook, YouTube and for catching up on TV using BBC iPlayer and others as well as general net surfing whilst I use it for email. Perfect on a four hour train journey. Sync your papers and subscriptions before you leave and all your reading material is there with you. On a recent trip to Cardiff I was amazed to see a iPad being used as the environment controller. It was used to control the lights, temperature, air conditioning and audio visual equipment. It's rather like buying a new car that you had never noticed on the road before, then you see them everywhere! Would I buy another, well not from an Apple store, but certainly from eBay as I got mine at a £140 discount off the store price as a BNIB. Thanks you eBay!!!Read full review
what can i say about this ipad is amazing,I bought it for my teenage daughter to help with her school work,it has thousands of free apps to choose from, internet that is faster than my desktop anyday, It was very easy to connect to the internet and doesn't forget the passwords when you take it to another location just open the browser back up and away you go again. you can download reading apps and most stores have free books also eg WHSmith etc... The battery seams to last all day then you can charge it overnight no problems.. not found anything i dislike about it yet. i am impressed i am glad i chose the ipad 1 because it's better value for money and i think performs just as well as the ipad 2.my daughter thinks so too and it was her christmas present.
Can't load any games - anything that used to be available for this iPad has long since been upgraded and is not compatible - what good is storage if there is nothing to store ?

be aware that you can not download google chrome on them and games the iso 5. what ever will not let you do a lot off games and the battery life is poor overall its only a toy if you want a ipad ask the question is the iso above 9.3 or 5 as this will give you what you need facetime and other bits i would stay away from the ipad1 and go for ipad2

A smart phone is great, but sometimes you need a little more in the way of size and power. An iPad neatly fills the gap, it's always ready to go the battery life is fantastic and represents great value for money. It's not a full replacement for a laptop or PC though, 90% of your Internet browsing and social media around the home or wifi hotspot will be done on the iPad.
I bought this product for my 3 year old. Sounds extravagant but he loves my iPhone and I don't get a look it. He loves the iPad and so do I. It is used every day and is brilliant for games and films for him and for my personal bits and pieces. It is so much easier than having to get your laptop out, boot it up etc. It's just there and ready. I couldn't afford the iPad 3 so as I was getting an older model decided to get one with more memory. I know people with iPad 2 and iPad 3 and the only difference is that they have cameras. I would highly recommend getting an iPad. You won't look back and sure this will be something that children will be using more and more in the future.
Purchased an I pad a couple of years ago and was very pleased then I pad 2 appeared. Around this time my wife had a sroke and we found that she found it easier to read using the 'flip' method than manualy turning a book page. I then found that I was competing with my wife for the Pad so I decided to purchase another. My wifr did not need the features that the I Pad 2 had so I purchased another I Pad 1 Peace was restored in the house !!
