Synopsis
The fiftieth anniversary edition of the National Book Award-winning bestseller that is the definitive study of Adolf Hitler, the rise of Nazi Germany, the Holocaust, and World War II. This special edition now features a new introduction by Ron Rosenbaum, author of Explaining Hitler and How the End Begins . No other powerful empire ever bequeathed such mountains of evidence about its birth and destruction as the Third Reich. When the bitter war was over, and before the Nazis could destroy their files, the Allied demand for unconditional surrender produced an almost hour-by-hour record of the nightmare empire built by Adolph Hitler. This record included the testimony of Nazi leaders and of concentration camp inmates, the diaries of officials, transcripts of secret conferences, army orders, private letters--all the vast paperwork behind Hitler's drive to conquer the world. The famed foreign correspondent and historian William L. Shirer, who had watched and reported on the Nazis since 1925, spent five and a half years sifting through this massive documentation. The result is a monumental study that has been widely acclaimed as the definitive record of one of the most frightening chapters in the history of mankind. Here is the complete story of Hitler's empire, one of the most important stories ever told, written by one of the men best equipped to write it. This worldwide bestseller has been acclaimed as the definitive book on Nazi Germany; it is a classic work.

Excellent! Retrostar Music is a very fair seller - they gave me a 5% discount on top of an already great price! They also communicated the status of my order quite frequently. The CD I ordered came in a box with plenty of wrapping paper to ensure it would not get beaten up in shipping. Usually sellers just send CDs in envelopes, so I was pleasantly surprised when this arrived in a box. The CD itself is in perfect condition. A+ experience! I would highly recommend this seller!

"Moneyball" is an old/new movie/DVD that I haven't seen. "Retrostar Music" as seller had some of Mr. Pitts movies & this was labelled "New", I decided to purchase it. The seller sent all I ordered with FREE shipping &discounted the price of all as well. It took less than a week - six days - for my complete order to arrive & they were all carefully packaged & arrived in two boxes. If I ever have a question regarding what else is in the seller's inventory, I always receive a very prompt reply.

  • Rise and Fall of the Third Reich

I first bought this book over sixty years ago. In my opinion, it is one of the best histories of World War II and the events leading up to it. The author, William Shirer lived through it and extensively researched the data available and wrote a very unbiased history, which history should be written! Considering the time frame covered and the amount of information given, Mr. Shirer has written a concise history. If you can call almost 1,500 pages concise. This is not a quick read. Plan on spending over 20 hours of reading time or you will miss a lot. It had been at least 20 years since my last reading. It has been an experience similar to meeting an old friend and spending days catching up

  • In depth and facinating

This is an extremely long book, but it's also a very deep look at the history of the Third Reich and the years before it's evil birth. It's well researched, but if you're not really into the history of Nazi Germany it can drag a bit. The only negative was that the author tended to let his own opinions get involved too often for a historical tome-even if I agreed with 90% of those opinions. Great book if you have a deep interest in the factors that led up to WWII and the reasons behind the Holocaust and the personal history of Adolph Hitler.

  • First rate product and good value.

The book looks brand new. It is a full-size hardcover, anniversary edition.
