I bought it as a replacement remote for my old Thomson digital recorder but it didn't work - it didn't work with my relatively old grundig tv either - however, it did work with my new sony tv so will use it as a replacement if my sony tv remote stops working but have had to look elsewhere for a remote that works with an old Thomson digital recorder. I think the phrase universal remote control is misleading because it only seems to work (in my case) with newer equipment. Replacement for an ancient one that had been used so much, some of the buttons were unable to function properly. This replacement worked properly as soon as batteries were installed and without any need to re-program it. Simple to use, pretty-much intuitive controls. Excellent value.
