    Getting on in years but still does a great job

    This model is rather old by comparison and it is disappointing that Canon cannot offer a servicing facility. It takes really good pictures with the Canon lenses that I use, especially in low light conditions. For most conditions, leaving it in "auto" mode produces best results.

    Excellent starting/amateur DSLR

    Having started with the Canon 400D several years ago, I found this an excellent step up from that, the image quality is excellent at the lower ISO range (100-400), it performs well at 800 and 1600 too, the noise really starts to be a bit more noticeable at 3200 and 6400, and the Hi ISO (12,800) does give a lot of noise but this can be used for creative effect and makes Black and White conversions more gritty and gives it more of a real printed image feel. Although only an amateur photographer, I have used it quite happily for professional situations, I shot my cousins wedding on it and recently did a friends wedding too and am really pleased with the results. I volunteer as the Parkrun photographer at my local event as well and have shot a Rotary Club awards evening on it. I have also ...

    Canon EOS 550D

    The camera has a bigger and clearer back screen than the EOS 450D which I was using previously. It has a much improved built in flash, giving good clear photos even in the darkest of areas. the video recording is easy to use and now has sound. A very good camera

    Great Camera. Easy to use and stunning results

    This is a really quality camera. The display is stunning and if you have an older Canon camera and are looking to upgrade then you will find this very easy to use in that most of the functions are similar. The big difference is that you can now shoot excellent HD video. I have been more than impressed with some of the shots I managed to take with this camera so far and I am learning and loving it day by day. The definition with the 18M is quite brilliant. I would have no hesitation in recommending this camera as being almost as good as the 7d but a lot less expensive.

    Great camera

    Started with a 300d then recently upgraded to this 550d and the image quality and features are so much better. Great camera. I use it for astrophotography and it does the job great
