    Virtually bulletproof,

    I have used the 105 rear derailleurs for more than 20,000 recreational and charitable miles over the road in the last 8 years. Love the rigid linkage - once it's adjusted, it stays adjusted. Capacity of the short-cage style has never been a problem with my 12t - 26t rear cassette and 53t - 39t front chainrings. Never felt a need to upgrade to a more co$tly line.

    Unless you are Lance Armstrong, or maybe in a position of making more money than you deserve...this RD-5701 is perfect for the average rider. If you want no frills performance, value, and longevity, for a double chainringed crank, this is the ticket. Category: Best Bang for Buck

    The best 10 speed derailleur.

    I still use 10 speed on my triathlon bikes to keep everything compatable. The short cage really shifts much better than the medium cage which is necessary if you want bigger than 28T in rear. For me as smooth as I've used.
