The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night Review
'The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night' is the second game in the Legend series. I read quite a few reveiews about this game and honestly nearly every one knocked it. The creators of 'A New Beginning' (first of the Legend series) took the Spyro franchise to a new level with a hollywood voice cast and excellent cinematics, all wrapped up with a great story line. The sequel however seemed to go backwards, the gameplay isn't as good as the other games in the series aswell as the camera is kind of frustrating at times. The story line isn't that great either, The game continues the storyline established by 'A New Beginning' which ended with the defeat of Cynder, a black dragon in servitude for an enemy called the "Dark Master". In The Eternal Night, a new antagonist "Gaul" the Ape King has ... 'The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night' is the second game in the Legend series. I particually didn't like the blackout sections resulting in the gain (or regain shall we say) of your powers. The game also seems to lack the platforming element widely known to the franchise, seems all your doing is fighting a large array of enemies all the time so you find yourself button mashing. Overall the game lacks certain elements needed (for me) in a Spyro game, it's worth a play to fans of the franchise but to first timers I'd stick with 'A New Beginning' or 'Dawn of the Dragon'.

The first three Spyro adventures (Spyro the Dragon, Gateway to Glimmer and year of the Dragon) were all created by Insomniac Games. All three of these Insomniac Games adventures were very well crafted and faithfully followed an enjoyable formula. Unfortunately, Sierra have remade Spyro adventures into something darker, harder to play and consequently much less enjoyable. The worst thing about the Sierra versions however, is the length of time it takes to switch between different 'worlds'.
