    WHY WE LOVE IVOR THE ENGINE DVD

    I bought this for a couple of quid a few months back. My 3 year old son is a Thomas Tank fan so I'm quite clued up on characters and story lines (also with working in a Childrens department store. But one day he came back from his grandparents house talking with a rather impressive Welsh accent about "Ivor the Engine" and a donkey named Bluebell. I turned to Ebay to do some investigating and came across the DVD, bought it and have never looked back. He loves it and it's slow placid pace is quite soothing to me. great for sitting on the sofa and watching a couple of short episodes befre book read and bed. I prefer it against Thomas as it's not so fraught with disaster and punishment (I as a child cried for hours with distress when the Fat Controller had Henry bricked up in a tunnel!) great ...

    Ivor the Engine

    What an absolutely, superb blast from the past. I bought it for my two pre-schoolders to watch and they love it as much as I did back in the '70s. Oliver Postgate was a genius and his dulcet tones take me right back to the days of watching 'Ivor' just before 'Nationwide' came on and dinner was ready. It isn't as slick as the cartoons of today but it is charming and utterly addictive. A fantastic buy.

    Ivor The Engine

    Bought because we have a baby boy and are not keen on modern day cartoons - too much killing and violence. Was brought up on the likes of Ivor the Engine, Trapdoor, Willo The Wisp etc and if it was good enough for us then it is good enough for my son - who will enjoy as much as we do. It is classic children's entertainment which can be watched again and again.
