This selected edition of Sexton's poems, arranged chronologically and enhanced by an insightful introduction, will make her work accessible not only to students but to readers everywhere., "The editors of this Selected Poems have carefully chipped away at the block of marble and revealed the true figure of Sexton's work: haunted, plaintive, raucous, as often exuberantly witty as it is afflicted." -- J. D. McClatchy "This selected edition of Sexton's poems, arranged chronologically and enhanced by an insightful introduction, will make her work accessible not only to students but to readers everywhere." -- Maxine Kumin, The editors of this Selected Poems have carefully chipped away at the block of marble and revealed the true figure of Sexton's work: haunted, plaintive, raucous, as often exuberantly witty as it is afflicted.

Excellent! Retrostar Music is a very fair seller - they gave me a 5% discount on top of an already great price! They also communicated the status of my order quite frequently. The CD I ordered came in a box with plenty of wrapping paper to ensure it would not get beaten up in shipping. Usually sellers just send CDs in envelopes, so I was pleasantly surprised when this arrived in a box. The CD itself is in perfect condition. A+ experience! I would highly recommend this seller!

"Moneyball" is an old/new movie/DVD that I haven't seen. "Retrostar Music" as seller had some of Mr. Pitts movies & this was labelled "New", I decided to purchase it. The seller sent all I ordered with FREE shipping &discounted the price of all as well. It took less than a week - six days - for my complete order to arrive & they were all carefully packaged & arrived in two boxes. If I ever have a question regarding what else is in the seller's inventory, I always receive a very prompt reply.

  • Introductions

Having never read any work by Anne Sexton, I figured that the best introductory sampling could be achieved through a Selected Poems options. Cover to cover, her work is an exciting acknowledgment of the tips and turns in a life filled with emotional response. She takes what should be a daily routine of survival and flips it into introspective dissection. Where some people would receive information of love, anger, abandonment, loss, and happiness etc. with a one sided black and white acceptance, Anne Sexton tore through these encounters with a beautiful description and empathetic respect. Dealing with several sensitive topics, Anne Sexton wrote as a painter spreads colors. I will definitely be on the lookout for more completed collections.

  • Anne Sexton, dark poetry , real life..

I lived near this wonderful poet in Boston, never met her but was very intrigued by her highly intelligent views on life, her poetry is so real to her life, everything she writes is about her insanity, yet she still muddles through life , it is sad that she was determined to commit suicide but the writing was on the wall , she warned everyone, I could relate to the 70's movement and some of her feelings, she was very brave, not a coward......she just didn't want to live in this world, it hurt too much..............the book is dark and down to the raw bones, I remember the yellow tape around her home when she was found dead....it was sad.........I bought the book because I knew she wrote about her depression and put it out for all to see............since her first book I am buying her ...
