    Good replacement

    Happy with the camera which replaced my current Canon compact camera which has an unrepairable battery compartment lid. There are one or two scratches here and there especially on the viewing window on the camera rear but still a good camera for the price that I paid.

    good for £100

    still assessing this camera. So far it's been very battery hungry.Haven't tried rechargeables yet, At the moment I'm on Lithium AA's which are proving good. The camera itself is well mada with lots of options on scene modes, iso speeds and pixel count. Can't say much about the inbuilt flash. I'm using Mecablitz which I had. Generally I've been happy with Canon products, and thus far I am with this camera. For £100 it's good, for the retail price I'd probably look at another Canon product.

    A fantastic camera for all, well worth the money.

    I have been a keen photographer for 40 years and tried several makes of camera and found canon the best, the canon SX1 IS, is a fantastic camera, contaning, all the features of a full blown DSLR in a smaller size. the 20 time optical zoom (80 with digital) is fantastic covering all a photographer like myself needs, without carrying a load of different lens around, with full HD videos fully auto and manual controls,you cannot go wrong if you buy this camera,wether you are a novis or profesional this camera has something for all.

    Great Camera Great Shots

    Already had a Canon SX110is, but zoom range was not long enough, also it did not have a viewfinder. The Canon SX1 is has a brilliant zoom range, but also a C MOS sensor which helps to produce excellent images, and with a viewfinder and flip rotate screen the taking options are excellent. It is nowhere near as big as a DSLR and has an incredible zoom range which would necessitate several lenses on a DSLR to match. The functions are numerous and enable it to be used for quick snaps or more creative options. My main dislike is the lens cap which does not stay on very well and the lack of a filter thread. I would certainly buy another or an updated version.
