Japanese developer Nippon Ichi may be best known to North American gamers for its traditionally styled tactical RPGs released for the PlayStation 2. Phantom Brave is designed to bring a little bit of innovation to the studio's mastered genre, however, by freeing the player from conventions such as isometric battlefields and rigid movement gridlines. Characters can be moved freely around the organically layered battlefields of Phantom Brave, to compete in classic, turn-based battles of magic and melee. The game follows the story of Marona, an orphaned girl who had lived by herself on a strange island full of spirits and phantoms. Now, accompanied by her friend Ash, the ghost of a warrior who fell while fighting alongside her parents, the young heroine travels to different places on Phantom Island and uses her unique powers to help good people in need.

    The Pitfall 2 game cartridge arrived as described in the listing. I was a little concerned it was shipped in plastic bubble envelope, but the cartridge was also wrapped in so much bubble wrap it was just fine. The cartridge connectors were a bit dirty/dusty, but after a quick cleaning I tested it in the Atari and it worked! It was just meant to be a quick test to make sure it worked, but I couldn't stop playing and I ended up finishing it! I'm happy to finally add this classic to my collection!

    So much to do

    Phantom Brave has always been a game I wanted since I was a kid. Now a young adult I can say the want was truly justified. There is some much do in this game its staggering. First is the campaign which is the Compelling about a girl named Marona and her phantom protector ash as they take on jobs and hardships. 20 episodes. that you might breeze past if not careful. If properly leveled its not much of a challenge. Of course just playing the campaign would be doing this game an injustice. There are tons of random dungeons to try. Tons of characters to unlock and don't get me started on the customization for the game. That alone has made sink 20+ hours not even moving the story along! This game is great truly a classic. Definitely something you should pick up.

    Great anime/JRPG!

    Love this game! Fun and has a great story. Lots of classes and characters to choose from. It has a lot of different techniques and strategies. If you like strategy rpgs this is a great one to play. Characters level to 9,999 and there’s lots of weapons and grinding you can do. Strong and challenging enemies and bosses and characters with a lot of personality.
