In The Holographic Universe, Michael Talbot argues nothing less than that the universe is itself one giant hologram. Mr. Talbot thus explains out-of-body experiences, quantum-theory problems, the paranormal, and other unsolved riddles of brain and body., In remarkably readable prose (even when dealing with physics), Talbot explores the ways in which our concepts of time, personality, and even consciousness are altered by defining them as holographic. . .controversial but fascinating material., Elegant. . . helps to bridge the artificial gap that has opened up between mind and matter, between us and the rest of the cosmos.

Synopsis
Today nearly everyone is familiar with holograms, three-dimensional images projected into space with the aid of a laser. Now, two of the world's most eminent thinkers -- University of London physicists David Bohm, a former protege of Einstein's and one of the world's most respected quantum physicists, and Stanford neurophysiologist Karl Pribram, one of the architects of our modern understanding of the brain -- believe that the universe itself may be a giant hologram, quite literally a kind of image or construct created, at least in part, by the human mind. This remarkable new way of looking at the universe explains now only many of the unsolved puzzles of physics, but also such mysterious occurrences as telepathy, out-of-body and near death experiences, "lucid" dreams, and even religious and mystical experiences such as feelings of cosmic unity and miraculous healings.

The book was exactly as described and arrived quickly. The only problem is a recurring one with this seller and other similar sellers - the book is poorly packaged in a plastic envelope and gets heavily bumped in shipping. I would like to see the books wrapped before shipment, but I understand this can't be done for cost reason. Luckily it isn't an expensive book, and I will continue to purchase basic books from this seller. A+++++

Book arrived quickly and is pretty close to "Very Good" description. Value priced and I'm glad I made the purchase as this is an excellent read. However, the book was mailed loose inside an over-sized plastic bag without any protection. Wrapped in a bubble wrap jacket would be a big help. A book can take a beating in USPS transit without some buffer. I can't tell if the bumps and dings were original or occurred in transit. I'd prefer to pay for shipping than have it sent with no protection.

    Extremely interesting!

An excellent book for curious and open-minded people. The author explains a new way of looking at our sometimes strange reality, including Jung's concept of Synchronicity, Quantum Physics and paranormal events. This one's hard to put down!

  • An eye-opening perspective of reality of our universe

Great introduction to the works by Karl Pribram and David Bohm. The book raises good questions of true understanding of the reality of our universe. It is based on a alternate perspective. Thought provoking reading for anyone interested in science and philosophy!
