If you're looking to step up your bass playing and tone this is the effects unit to buy. I've been a pod user for years and while it's a great product from line 6 whether it's the original, the xt or the pro but it has it's limitations. The GT-10B on the other hand takes your tones to a different level. Aside from having great models it also has an arsenal of effects. Whether you use all of them or not is up to your disgression. What's is really beneficial about the GT-10B is that it is not a toy. It's a intense computer processor for bass and you will see more and more of this with the newer stuff coming out this year. If you want to learn about editing, midi implemenatation, looping, backing up and restoring data to a computer then this is the machine for you. It has great tones that you can use for bass, but with some good editing you can use this for just about any guitar as well.Read full review
If you ever as a bassist felt like you needed a pedal, get this. It has so many options and presets, you could easily spend more time going though them instead of playing. While it can be a little oppressive learning the menu from observation, it is a breeze to jump in and start building tones. Don't waste your time researching individual pedals when you can have it all in one package (and power-cable).

This thing is very transparent without effects which makes it nice to just keep in the chain and make use of the tuner and pedal. And when effects are needed there are a lot of very good sounding ones to choose from and tweak. I dialed in a very good rendition of fretless sound for Pink Floyd "Hey You"...and an unexpected surprise was a setting to actually play the talk box solo from "Rocky Mountain Way" on my bass with no need for a physical talk box!. Very cool. A little bit of learning curve, but if you take the time to go through the manual it does a good job accelerating you to patch creating wizardry. My favorite feature is the ability not only set individual levels of each effect in each patch, but also the ability to tweak the levels of all these and re-save the patch on stage very quickly when you hear certain other band members decide to crank their amps up without notice!Read full review
Actually, the defaults are not what I was after. Creating custom patches and sounds etc.. in one unit was more affordable than multi pedals. It does the job for its age. Good value.

Great presets sounds, I liked the synth and factory fretless presets a lot. I also liked the looper function, it is pretty basic but since I do the audio checkup in the band I can easily save a bass pattern and while the band is playing along with the loop I can go downstage and listen to the whole band to check up the levels. The loops are lost once you get off the loop/phrase mode or turn off the unit. You can always save your loops on your pc though. The unit does not have any drum patterns to play along with nor audio input for praticing your songs/covers but I thing it is a great pedal as it improves your bass sound a lot.
