Replacement motor for Dyson DC04 Vacuum Cleaner

The motor was purchased to replace the original, whose bearing had failed. The result was a functional vacuum cleaner, but a lot noisier in use and with poor suction. All in all, a great disappointment

  • Fitting this new motor

This motor replacement is great value for money and if you take your time and watch the various youtube videos, it is easy. This is my first time changing one and worked fantastic first time. I was shocked to see the state of the old motor as the brushes had burnt out.

  • Why pay £200 to £300 for a new vacuum when you could repair yourself for £30, go on give it a go.... I did.

Well it happened my DC33 died this week, at the age of 9 years 4 months. I was devastated, back in 2010 I purchased it for £192 at Currys. A quick look online and the new models are £200 to £300, with 700 watt motors EEkk. I thought can I repair rather than replace (Greta Tumberg would be proud). Now don't get me wrong. I am no repair engineer & have never took a Dyson to bits before today. When the vacuum died, it died in style, black acrid smoke then the motor sounded dreadful. The motor fits the DC33 stubborn as well. I found a relay good video on how to strip, replace & rebuild a Dyson, it also shows you how to replace the clutch if needed. its about 38:21 long and googled "replace dc33 motor" Tip 1: I discovered you will also need a T15 x 80 long torc screwdriver as some of the ...

  • Motor-changing virgin!

OK I won't say it's easy to replace the motor on a DC27 and I'm not very good at this sort of thing but I managed to do it with the help of photographs I found on a very useful website. I now have a working Dyson and I'm so glad. The Vax I was using instead was nowhere near as efficient. This motor has made me a happy bunny!
