It does detangle and the hair feels soft once dried.. you have to be a bit patient as it doesn't exactly lather easily so you have to cup the bar and the wet hair inbetween both your hands and slide it downwards. It doesn't need lathering as it only requires a 'thin layer' of the product to do it's job. Once it's in, gently comb the hair starting from the bottom and work your way to the top and then rinse a little and then use shampoo it a little to remove the oils.
