I used one of these in Georgia for 5 years because Georgia does not get and stay cold and its Way Cheaper then Natural gas! it cost me about $90 to $110 a month to run almost 24/7 When I moved back to New York I started using it after I got my first $900 heating bill ! and found it does very good, keeps the chill out most of the day, I ran the house heater for a few min. in the morning and it ran me the same in K-1 because it does not use more oil just because its colder Wow what a life saver $$$ Now I am in a very well insulated house I use it from time to time and keep one around in case the power goes out I have pets including a Blue and Gold Macaw that are sensitive to smells I found when shutting it off to take it outside for a few Min. to let the smell of oil burn off goes away, keep the wick trimmed and clean and this does not smell at all, that's normally the question I get asked ..... I have a few big dogs over 100Lbs and they run and jump and have bumped it, it goes off Fast! if something was to tip it over (and in 15 years using one) it would shut off before it tipped over, I have never had a safety concern including having kids in the house all the way down to Baby.... In Georgia I left it in the living room and it kept the whole house nice, up here in NY I left it on the first floor and because heat rises the second floor was not that bad, so yes I used this for many years as our main heat and now as a back up, I recommend this unit.... Cons: #1 batteries to light it, I gave up on that and just use one of those long BBQ lighters #2 You have to fill it once a day and go for and have K-1 handy #3 Smell if it goes off in the house or you don't keep the wick adjusted to a nice blue Pros: Cheap, Safe, easy to use Great for hunting camp! Great for Shop Great back up just incase, you never know Southern Tip: the old timers use to put a put of water on their wood burning stove to put water back in the air and that makes it feel hotter in the house, I used a cast iron pot on the top of this, I don't recommend that unless you really trust yourself, kids and pets not to tip it but it really did make it better..... This review is based on my experience with this type of heater. I have not yet taken the new one out of the box, so will amend in the future, if necessary.

Well made product with a high heat output. Bought the heater for my covered patio area, it's ideal.

Heat output is amazing although it does not heat our entire 1,000 square foot home as per most other reviews. I contribute it to the fact that houses in South Africa are not as well insulated as houses in Canada or other cold areas. Great product, very happy with it.
