bought it to try out using the internet with a mobile phone. It is a bit of a phaff and I now only use it if I really cant wait until i get to a computer. It feels a bit gimmicky and I think either you go for a touchphone or stick with the older and simpler style with no internet access. One day I might configure it to receive emails, but probably not.
I recently bought this phone to replace my 'Dead Virgin Lobster'. Having been used to the windows mobile operating system I was excited to find out what was new in wm6 as opposed to wm5 which I was used to. To be fair the user interface is very similar, but the html mail feature is one of the things I really like. The phone is very compact and light and the battery life is good providing you install the 'battery fix' as found on the HP web site. Aesthetically the phone is a bit on the dull side which reflects its more business like demeanor but feels solid and is quite diminutive considering what has been packed in to it. The phone already has 'Sdhc' capability and had no problem recognising my 8gb card without having install any hacks. Sensibly the sd card is accessible from the side without having the remove the back cover or battery and is 'hot swappable' You will have to 'application unlock' the phone if you want to install any additional software but this is a simple job (google 'application unlock' or 'sda unlock') TomTom 7 runs perfectly on this phone (after application unlocking)and works great in conjunction with a bluetooth gps like the gps 2000 key chain gps. The only slight problem that I have with the phone is the screen resolution is relatively low compared with more modern phones, but that does not affect its performance and certainly does not make it unusable. The wi-fi built in is an added bonus (ideal for a bit of web browsing in Mc Donald's) but remember not to leave it on as it is a real battery hog. All in all a no nonsense phone that can have all the frills if you want to install them. As with the Iphone if you look hard enough there is probably 'an app for that'! Much underrated!Read full review
ok i read all the other reviews and find them really unhelpful. this phone is great, cause it is really customizable at 100% (from ppl who actually know hoW) i managed to install loads of apps resulting the phone to be very slow, the problem was that the processor runs at 180 Mhz so i overclocked the phone to 252 Mhz in full loads and going down to 100 Mhz in idle automatically resulting it to save a lot of battery power. in Italy we say "if you do not kick the donkey, it will ignore you", skype requires a 200 Mhz minimum processor to work properly, that is why there is sound delay, but the overclock fixes it. it has a wifi g standard which is great and the signal is always very strong everywhere you go same thing for the sim signal. the only problem i found was the usb which is not the 2.0 resultin in very slow data transfer, but again the word customization is the key, i managed to install an app that transfer any file from pc to phone via wifi and it works very fast. installed copilot with an external bluetooth gps receiver and it works great even if used with other programs running (beware to close running programs that are not needed) bought it as new with the protective film still on it for 27 pounds and everyday i find new apps to make it better even if it runs on a wm 6 which is very old , m very satisfied and i will use this phone for long time. if you really like something customizable and most important KNOW how to do it , then this phone is the best quality-price pocketpc on the market. 100% satisfied from HPRead full review
the phone has a good camera, good audio quality, good speaker, easy enough to use, it has all the feautures most phones these day have bluetooth, mp3, memory card slot and in addition WIFI connectivity, meaning you can connect to a wireless router and use the net from your phone, it is alot faster then gprs. However there is one major problem it is very laggy and it freezes up way too often. If you were wanting to use youtube on this though wifi, it will not work vey well, sound will play but video will usually freeze up, the only phone that plays videos perfectly through wifi are phones released after the n95
Probably could be some good when launched years ago. Paid £17 for it so will not moan. It is still good to make standard phone calls. Wifi is unreliable and very slow. Also tried Skype on it which was a nightmare and too much sound delay and no sound sometimes( gave up after 2 nights and three days) I'd say if you can get it under £15 then go for it to learn how to use a windows mobile phone. Processor is less than 200 Mhz. Over all: Great for making telephone calls ( a "mobile" should do it any-ways ) No good as a windows based mobile. Good points: ¤Battery life is Great. ¤Looks Cool and says *Hp on it :o)
