Very nice camera has a lot of settings and takes beautiful pictures. It is compact in design a good lcd. The battery is very good also.
The Camera is one of the best around for the money. Its been rated quite highly and I would like to mention this is not a UK spec camera the equivalent is the IXUS 90 IS, but its near enough Identical. The Features on this camera for the price are second to none. The SD900 IS is one of the best quality pocket cameras on the market. You can count on very good picture quality. The build quality of the camera is also impressive. There are also a few options that are not always standard on this type of camera. These include image stabilisation, additional flash features such as red eye correction and time lapse movies. The video function is great, and the flash allows for great in club pictures where lighting is poor (reasonable ISO 1600). Close up its macro feature and 10MPx give great clarity and focus plus the addition of multiple focus allows for more than 1 focal point in a image. The jog wheel is abit tricky to use but great for quickly scrolling through photos.Read full review
The Canon Ixus 980is I would say is the best compact camera you can purchase to date. Complete with auto and manual control over setting’s you are equipped with everything for any shot situation in any lighting conditions. The picture colour is true to life even in flash conditions and the pixel quality even at the high end of its setting of 14 megapixels produce good clean and a sharp images with very little grain, so if your into printing large scale photo’s you are not going to be disappointed. The camera is very well built in a solid case with very little plastic employed in its build you can feel the quality the moment you pick it up. All the buttons come to hand and it is like you have owned the camera for years the functions just come so easy to you. The battery life of the camera is great but unfortunately you are stuck with canons own battery you can’t put AA in this beauty. The camera comes in Silver or Black and I chose Black over the Silver because of my past experience that silver tends to show the scratches up no matter how small on the casing and plus for some reason the Black model as the more better and expensive look to it. The price of the camera is well worth it given the functions it provides and the build quality and I would say it does not (at the date of this review) have any competitor in the compact camera class. If your thinking of a purchase on e-Bay make sure you get the Canon Ixus 980is as this will have a valid UK warranty a lot of sales on the e-Bay site have the cheaper Sure Shot 990 and admittedly exactly the same camera you’re going to find the UK warranty will not cover the American imported camera so you’re going to have a lot of hassle if anything goes wrong should you have to return it under warranty, this is a risk you will have to set against the Sure Shot 990 lower price tag. Negatives? I can’t find any, but a man’s cup of tea is another man’s poison and I have used a lot of compact cameras and none even from Nikon compare (in my view) to the Canon Ixus 980is it is a good all round digital camera producing high quality shot’s at a real sensible price.Read full review
I haven't had this camera for long but so far I am now in love! Neat and chunky retro style. A new item but older model with an optical viewfinder, which was my reason for buying it. It doesn't matter how big the screen gets I cannot see it without glasses and by then half the world has gone by. I am not overly fond of cameras with higher pixels, I don't need then and there are just too many pixels. This is unforgiving at 14.7 of anyone over 15 years old. The pixels find things that aren't event here, however I am looking for for something that can grab detail of other things such as plants, insects etc., not really people. It was happy at 9" from a flower and I enlarged that greatly on the computer until it began to lose detail. I don't know what the result would have been if I had tried to print as I have not yet tried. This pack came with a canvas, but solid bag as an ad on and included a further 1G card. A nice little gift. The price was a lot less that other new/old Ixus 980's but still quite pricey if you are used to paying £99. If you are happy with a screen then stick with them. If you are fed up banging your nose against it because you never got used to the optical viewfinder disappearing then go for this. You wont be disappointed. On/off low set to avoid unintentional turing on, is a little small so often find I have not turned it on. Door to battery compartment seems solid and both battery and card are easy to take out and put back in. Needs a 2.5 protector for the rear screen, you can get them for 99p for one online, better to get a pack. I am going to see if I can get a further guarantee for my recent experience of cameras leads me to think even 3 years is not enough. This one is for one year. Set-up seems fairly simple and also has a retro feel to it, although these cameras aren't very old. Date set comes up each time you turn on, as it says in the accompanying booklet. I assume this can be turned off but this is not obvious. As yet I am in the early stages of playing with this so might discover problems, but most of the research I did seems to indicate that other people have been happy with the 980 too. So hope what I have said is of use.Read full review
This is a very high quality refurbished camera. The extras are a great bonus which is handy if you are going to buy them separately anyway. The camera itself is an older model but could still compete with any of the newer point and shoot models on the market. I looked long and hard before finding this camera and it has not let me down. If you want a decent camera without spending a massive amount of money then this is the camera for you. For quality and cost its probably the best going around.
