    Great basic, budget plane.

    This is a great little plane. It's available under various brand names but at its best, value-wise, under the Voche label. Then 900w model cuts a fraction deeper and copes better with hard surfaces, so is worth the few extra pounds you have to pay for it.

    Voche 900W Electric Planer

    I purchased this electric planer to replace my old one which I had had for many years. This Voche is much lighter and has more delicate adjustments than my old one. I realise that models improve as new designs are developed but I am very happy with this purchase. I am a DIY jobbing handyman so I am not using my tools all of the time. The power and adjustment capabilities of this product suit me fine.

    Power Planer Virgin....

    This was my first power planer, purchased for some oak doors that needed planing and I am no use with a jigsaw. What a brilliant piece of kit. My suggestion is play around with it first on some gash wood to get a feel for it as I made a bit of a mistake at the end of a long plane along the door length where I never kept it flat and took off to much at the end when I rocked forward. Fortunately I set the blade to 0.5mm so no harm done as I was working towards taking 3mm of each side for clearance. Only negative is the dust bag is far too small, 3mm off both sides of a door and the bag was full and fiddly to empty, but what a job it does. Brilliant, how did I ever live without one of these.
